‘Spur of the moment situation’

Wilbanks arrived at Albuquerque’s main airport Saturday afternoon for a flight back to Atlanta, her head covered with a striped blanket as about 10 police officers escorted her. She did not respond to reporters’ questions.

Marshall Katz, the airport police chief who escorted Wilbanks to her plane, said she was met aboard the aircraft by her stepfather and an uncle.

Arms out, big hugs, alligator tears,” he said, describing the reunion.

Katz said he gave her a foot-tall white teddy bear, which she clutched for support. She planned to name it, “Al from Albuquerque,” she told him.

This reminded me of a great song from Steven Sondheim musical COMPANY...It's called, appropriately, NOT GETTING MARRIED TODAY!

Hildy, that's a hoot!

Didn't his clever lyrics also grace "Into the Woods?"

You brought a little 'cultcha' to this thread.

Obviously there was enough information to deduce that there was a fair probability she was lying. Just because you were incapable of seeing that doesn't make those who could as "twaddling on with tinfoil theory". And there lies your error whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

I think his/her point was that if the Rathergate story had gone unchallenged (that we simply accepted CBS's version of the "facts") that it was possible Bush could have lost the election. The election was very close and no one knows what might have happened had the story been left unchallenged.

In the case of this story there were a number of claims made by the women about her abduction that simply didn't make sense. That doesn't mean it wasn't true (at the time) but it sure should give rise to healthy speculation that it was all lies.

Your the one who hurled insults...

You were wrong to do so.

Too bad.

You make a good point.

Charge the family with the expense of looking for her since they are the one's that demanded the investigation. If the family wants to take it out of her hide later then fine.

The bottom line is the taxpayers shouldn't be stuck with the bill.

I take it they hugged her while she still had the blanket on her head? I'd have loved to seen that.

Thanks for your posts. You said it better than me. There are a few here on FR who seem incapable of acknowledging any mistakes on their part. The truth is this girl scammed everyone, and a few people here felt that scam early on, and were boorishly criticized for suggesting that her abduction may be a fraud.

LOL. I missed that too. It must have been quite a hug.
