Mrs. Don-O is essentially correct.

Most "Catholics" who would substantially deny this formulation would also probably consider the Catechism of the Catholic Church to be "off", in which case they're on their own.

Mrs. Don-O is essentially correct.

By "essentially correct" do you mean there are things that should be added to Mrs. Don-o's post?

The true church is the Body of Christ, not a denomination of any sort. A true believer is one in whom Christ dwells. Period.

We have distinctly differing theologies and definition of a 'true church'.

The common analogy is that the church is the bride of Christ, and that the Holy Spirit is present with the believer.

Catholics, Lutherans and Anglicans do believe that Christ's body is physically present in the Elements, but I don't think even they wouldn't say that Christ dwells in the believer.

What religious group uses the defintion that you have given?

Christ's indwelling being the Holy Spirit. It's spiritual, not physical.

That one? So Catholics say Baptists and Presbyterians don't belong to a true church.

Hey, you got "ecclesial community" that's not so bad

Don't get offended if we return the favor.

I wouldn't get offened at all. Obviously you'd believe you are right, as so do I.

After all, good Presbyterians and reformed Baptists aren't permitted to marry Catholics.

Interesting. I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

I did not know that.

I suspect most Presbyterians don't either, but it is in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Another point of trivia. Technically, a Presbyterian elder holds the Biblical office sometimes referred to as Bishop. So, in a sense, the Presbyterian Church does have bishops, although I would suspect that both they and the Catholics would agree that that is not what the Catholics have in mind in their usage of that term.

No. What I mean is that we could go into far more detail theologically - not that she's missing any important points.

Focus on the Family is located in Colorado, if I'm not mistaken. Ken Salazar is no moderate - he's a flaming liberal. Too bad voters would have a chance to send him packing til 2010.

I suspect you are right, because my aunt is married to a Presbyterian :)

"I'd like to hear your response to the question of which passages you use to opine about the anti-Christ."

First tell me where I 'opined' about the anti-Christ?

LOL In other words, he is a hypocrite.

I'm sorry, but Christ, through the Holy Spirit, indwells the believer when you ask Him to come into your life. I know liturgical churches feel differently, but most born-again churches feel the way I do. He wants to have a personal relationship with us and there's no other way to do that but to have him indwell us.

Salazar according to the reporter said he would vote against the filibuster. If that is true, that is the big news. The rest is just noise.
