she forgot to take the gun -- which was still in its original box -- out of her handbag Must be a really large handbag! Secondly, that gun isn't going to do her much good still in the box. Get a holster Mamm.

Heck...down here in Georgia, we don't even have a waiting period for pistola's....(as long as you have a concealment permit).....

Schumer/Lautenberg country.
I guess so... Sorry to hear that.
You are always welcome to move and bring your weapons to Alabama.

"We had no choice," said Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. "We felt bad about it. But there was nothing we can do." You always have a choice between right and wrong.
Sheriff "Fritz" Fontoura's rationale is no better than that of German officers at Auschwitz.

You also need to have a permit to legally own a handgun in New York in your own home. New York and New Jersey laws trample on the right to keep and bear arms.

Gee, courthouses are full of criminals. Seems to me like that's a good place to be armed!

You need a permit to OWN in NJ?I think it is actually a permit to purchase. Carry permits are issued by the county sheriff's office.

It's a lot like Illinois here - you have to obtain a firearms ID card first; this will let you purchase all the rifles and shotguns you can get your gleeful little paws on. Pistol purchases require an additional document called a "permit to purchase and form of register". CCW is unheard of unless you're protecting someone's money or protecting a politician.
People around here have been fed propaganda about how guns are eeeevil for decades. It's proving a difficult monopoly to break, but we're trying. :-)

I've been an IL resident for 25 years and I've never filled out one of those "permit to purchase and form of register" things.
I just plunk down my money, fill out the 4473, pass the background check, (for the 100th time) and walk out with my purchase.
Granted I haven't bought a new pistol in about 2 years, but I haven't heard anythings changed, at least not in my county.
What county do you live in?

I'm not an Illinois resident, but the way I understood it was that there's a requirement for firearm owner ID cards (NJ does the same thing). Apparently I'm wrong, unless maybe they do this on a county-by-county basis in IL?
