There are so many wonderful pictures, that I had to sort through them to get the best ones.

Viva il Papa!

Queen Sofia's mantilla is quite beautiful. My grandmother had a black one that she wore on a tortoise shell comb for Mass.

I like the pilgrim symbolism of the scallop shells on his vestments.

It is really true: as we follow Christ in this mission to be fishers of men, we must bring men and women out of the sea that is salted with so many forms of alienation and onto the land of life, into the light of God. It is really so: the purpose of our lives is to reveal God to men. And only where God is seen does life truly begin. Only when we meet the living God in Christ do we know what life is. We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary. There is nothing more beautiful than to be surprised by the Gospel, by the encounter with Christ. There is nothing more beautiful than to know Him and to speak to others of our friendship with Him.
-Pope Benedict XVI during the Homily of His Instillation Mass, 24 April 2005

I rejoiced when I heard him say these words. Thank you God for our Pope!

Viva il Papa!

Wonderful pictures! Thank you especially for the one of the Holy Father and his brother -- I missed seeing them together during the broadcast.

Does anyone know if EWTN will rebroadcast the Mass tonight? I'm one of the unfortunate folks that my cable system has EWTN as a "split" channel.I only get it 8pm-8am.

I love the mantillas that some of the women are wearing, they are so beautiful and feminine.

Why do they keep calling it "installment" Mass? Are more of them to be served each month, by 24th day, with penalty for lateness?

I noticed on TVGuide.com it showed EWTN replaying it at 8 pm Central and 11 pm Central tonight in addition to the times that BearWash posted. I don't know if that's accurate, but I'm going to see and try to tape it then.

I am so glad the Host was a normal size. I have gotten so tired of some folks harping on the "cookie Mass" because of a Host the size of a dinner plate. Of all the things to complain about in the Novus Ordo Church that comes pretty far down on my list.
