Good. If there was ever a manufactured scandal, it was this one. Unless you count the allegations against Tom Delay, the "missing" explosives story, the Ohio vote fraud....

Right on. Yep, just another product of the leftist, troublmaking liberals. Standard fare.

First rate decision ... what happened at Abu Ghraib was a result of local troops and their immediate officers (all reservists) getting caught up in the mood of the moment and acting in a manner inconsistent with normal military prisoner protocol. Further, in spite of the liberal MSM outrage, especially the weenies at the NY Times who were obsessed with the issue ... what happened at Abu Ghraib was really a cake walk ... ask any old school Marine that survived Marine Corps boot-camp Parris Island.

The Army has cleared four top officers - including the three-star general who commanded all U.S. forces in Iraq - of all allegations of wrongdoing in connection with prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib and will not be punished, officials said Friday.

In a related story, the NPR and NY Times editorial staffs have been placed on suicide watch.

Wouldn't you know, though, that it would come out on a Friday night so the leftist talk shows won't have to report on it---

I noticed today that they haven't mentioned anything about Kennedy and Hillary's little problem in New Orleans....

No, this is grist for the mill. Expect a rehash of the Abu Ghraib "horror" in all the lib outlets with accompanying editorials about the military "protecting its own". This is good for at least 3 months of lib'ral "outrage".

I find it interesting that the outgoing chief of staff is an Air Force General, the incoming chief is a graduate of Annapolis and a Marine General and the incoming assistant chief is also an Annapolis graduate and Navy Admiral.

Looks like the Army generals are in the shovel brigade in this parade.

In only one case — that of Janis Karpinski, an Army Reserve brigadier general who commanded the 800th Military Police Brigade at Abu Ghraib — did Green decide that the allegations were substantiated. She has been suspended from her command and given a written reprimand.

She's that blonde Clinton appointee who got right out on CNN with her lawyer and started denying responsibility up one side and down the other about 15 minutes after the first pictures were released to the public.

Guess I missed reading she'd lost her command, so I'm glad for at least that.

I and others in the MI community are so glad that MG Fast is in charge out at Huachuca, and not Janis The Menace.

Fewer people died in Abu Ghraib than died in Ted Kennedy's Oldsmobile.

If you're allowed to say .. what was our opinion of her. I heard she was relieved of command after the incident because of lack of discipline toward her subordinates; like sloppy uniforms and no general adherence to military regulations ..??

The Army had the CJCS for quite a few years in a row. Additionally, the CJCS and the Deputy are not operational postings.

The CJCS speaks to the service chiefs, but even those are not operational commanders.

Those are the major geographic regional commanders + SOCOM (a new addition.)

I think these guys ought to be given a reprimand for not seeing to it that captured insurgents were systematically tortured for information and then crucified on wooden crosses that faced Mecca.

I'm really disappointed in these officers and think we ought to send them back to Iraq for another try.

If they can't get some American GI's to do the dirty work, I know that the South Korean Special Forces willl be happy to do all the needed interrogations.

No that wasnt it. She didnt manage in a way that I found easy to accept nor very inducive to getting things done. It was more about results and whatever it takes to get there. They did move her out of Baghdad is one big freakin hurry when all this broke. Now do I know she had anything to do with Abu, nope, but Karpinski (the east german weightlifting chick) reported directly to her. Thats all I have to say about that.
