Smart move by the Donks. Fooling the American people. They've waiting weeks to do this to show how they *really* aren't obstructionist.

You're thinking of Janice Rodgers Brown.

Yes, you are correct. That is the lady that was on my mind. Sorry for the confusion.

Good analysis. Going "nuke" for a SC nomination may be what the Republicans have in mind, but you're absolutely right that they can't control the timing of events, and the frustration of their base may require them to pull the pin (or push the button) earlier than they'd wanted to. Of course, we don't know the fevered minds of people like McCain and Hagel. Maybe in the backrooms they've said they'll vote FOR the nuke option only for Supreme Court nominees, not appellate judges. Who knows. Clearly, there's more to this than meets the eye or ear. But I agree with your comment that they may be dragging things out a bit too long. I was 100% behind not going nuclear until after the 2004 elections, but if they try to wait until after 2006, they may have waited too long. That cracking they hear may be the ice under their own feet.

And the GOP needs to be telling the duped public that the obstruction has been on the Sen. floor, not in the committee.

Starting with two women puts the Rats in a trick box. They love minorities & women...how could they vote against these two ?

BTW...where the heck is NOW on this matter ?

The same place NOW was at when Terri Schiavo was legally murdered by her husband -- giving cover to the evil-doers.

The Dems supposed love for minorities didn't stop them from obstructing Miguel Estrada's nomination, and I didn't see any evidence that the hispanic community gave a rat's arse about it.

I believe that Priscilla Owens is the white female judge from Texas who the Dems consider a radical because she decided in favor of parental notification before an abortion.
