Count the Baptists out then =)

Not this Baptist. The only time I am offended by people drinking beer is when I am not invited.

I am an ordained Southern Baptist pastor and we as a denomination do not agree or recognize anyone as the final authority other than God.

That's my point. I can't imagine that many Protestants would willingly come under papal authority. However, there IS common ground between Protestants and Catholics, and that common ground should be emphasized whenever possible.

I agree with you. There is a hint of authority in his tone that I don'r care for. He is the Catholic leader but the reach stops there.

Let's hope so.

Can you imagine the hell we may unleash if World Leaders,
even our our President, start bowing down to a former
member of the Hitler's Youth?

It's been less than a day, and already the world wants to
push this reality underground.

We do live in Interesting Times.

"...a former member of the Hitler's Youth..."

I have several problems with your condemnation of the Pope for this. First, if you read the entire history of the events, I think you would see how this was not a conscious choice made by him as a very young man. He was drafted into it.

I had a college professor who was a WWII veteran. I remember vividly his stories of being eighteen years old and being sent to fight Hitler. They knew nothing of his atrocities only that he was a dangerous man with a plan to rule the world. The point being no one had any idea how evil Hitler was until well after the war.

Himdsight is 20/20.

Church is a place of worship, not a place of control.

I attend to praise God and find strength, not to find "common ground" with other religions.

The freedom of religion is a private matter.

I, for one, do not look forward to being shackled to a world religion, or pressured to bow at this man's feet or accept his agendas.

Pope Benedict XVI: I too ... want to affirm with decisive willingness to follow in the commitment of carrying out the Second Vatican Council, in the wake of my predecessors and in faithful continuity with the 2,000-year-old tradition of the church," he said.

Watch out liturgical and moral "progressives!"

But, do we understand the effectiveness of Hitler's indoctrination?

Do we understand the intensity of his mind control?
Do we even know that the evil could be purged?

My question: Why go to this man?

Was there no other worthy?

from the article...
In his memoirs, the policeman's son wrote of being enrolled in Hitler's Nazi youth movement against his will when he was 14 in 1941, when membership was compulsory. He says he was soon let out because of his studies for the priesthood.

The Nazi's let him "out" so he could pursue priesthood.

On to another path, with the Nazi's blessing?

It's amazing. Truly amazing.

"Was there no other worthy?"

From your previous posts, I get the impression that you are not Catholic. So why does it matter to you?

Shackled to a world religion, bow at this man's feet. Sheesh! What is it with you? We don't worship the Pope. We worship God. We are Christian. We read the bible. We're not robots conforming to some evil force. Wow. Lighten up.

"...when he was 14..."

I would hate to have something that I did when I was 14 years old held against me.

or when I was 15,16,17,18,19 (MANY things when I was 19),20,21.....

One thing we forget, is the German people came under a system of mass mind control.

They were threatened, controlled, afraid to speak out, fearing their families would be dragged off too.

How does someone cope with that type of threat? Some embraced the hate, embraced "the mission" because it was the only way to survive the guilt of what they did.

Hitler went to the Children for his Final Solution. A child's mind is fresh and clear, ready to be imprinted and molded.

The adults knew right from wrong, even when they did wrong.

The children, the Hitler's Youth, had no chance.

That was when the real evil began, when children turned in parents, neighbors, friends.

A young mind may never go back to innocence after this type of assault.

Cult leaders know that, the police know that, it is very difficult to "unbrainwash" someone. They are often under an influence and training, even when think they are not.
