(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Certain to have a new mother load of security flaws which will alloe our PC's to get infected. Isn't Longhorn 64 bit as well?
Old Nintendo stuff LOL!
I don't think the article mentioned whether it was 32 or 64 bits, or even if it was backward compatible. Several posters mentioned that it was both, but the question of backward compatibility was asked but not yet answered.
As to security flaws, well as a general rule, the more complex a system gets, the higher will be the failure rate, even without deliberate intervention from the global anarchistas trying to inflict as much damage as possible...and as often.
The only thing I can suggest is keep your anti-viral signatures, fire walls, and trojan guarders up to date, especially if using a fast connection which is prone to be on-line more often than dial-up.
Once I got down to the "recommended system" list, I really began to wonder who the heck is going to be 'needing' this OS. Half a gig minimum? When it comes to business applications, almost any box coming off the line these days has horsepower to burn - the biggest demand on hardware is getting to be the OS itself. As it stands now the corporation I work for, with over 60,000 employees, buys COTS boxes and retroghosts them with W2000 - despite having the XP sticker on the bottom.

Works in WinXP.
It's a resource hog, but a very interesting gui concept that has come to fruition. If you tinker with it, customize the mouse motions to move faster.
