You're right - what I've heard of her life doesn't square with her writings. Her books are anything but "literature" IMO and a good fiction writer could easily make them shorter by half.

I do admire her philosophy, though. Her personal life doesn't interest me much, and I don't doubt it was a mess of contradictions.

I read an interview recently where Nathaniel Branden says there was confusion among objectivists about sexuality. He is very candid about her and her life.

Ayn Rand went goo-goo, gah gah over what the Founding Fathers put together. She pined that they "almost got it right" - but, by leaving the door ever so slightly open that the left wing, altruists could drive a truck through, we're in a mess getting messier.

Her writings of experiences with communism and later celebration of free-market capitalism hardly mentions her atheism.

What is this? The article says "right-wing", so someone writes "left-wing", and then someone else comes around deletes the "left-wing" and writes "moderate democrat".. That is just nuts. I've never heard of Wikipedia, but what you are describing is more akin to this message board, than an encyclopedia. Even here I don't expect that my post can be edited by a poster with a dissenting view. If such were the case, I would visit this site no longer.

Wikipedia provides largely anti-American, anti-Conservative, Anti-Bush DISINFORMATION and slanted opinion.
