The bottom line still remains in hindsight trying to work with the Afghan tribal lords (to the full extent we did and specifically in the Tora Bora Operation) did help in UBL escaping away.
It remains terribly frustrating that over 3 years after Sept 11th the three of the main players (UBL, Zawahiri and Omar)are all alive and free! - With UBL and Zawahiri almost certainly ekking out a survival in the Pak border region (an area where our SOF have not been able to operate independently).
