Ahhhhh. It's an off election season everywhere in the United States, except for right here in Virginia.

The headline tells the story, thankfully. :-)

No offense, but this poll is over a month old.

That's exciting news. It's also old news. Pre-dates the announcement tours. I'd like to see something a little more current.

Honey, we don't need it. We vote Republican down here in Virginia. Granted, we have had a few Democrats in the Governor's mansion; but, well, at least they are SOUTHERN Democrats. However, I certainly do hope that this time around we can have a Republican back in the Governor's mansion once again. From the looks of this poll which nearly blinded me, we will probably have our Republican governor. :)

Granted, we have had a few Democrats in the Governor's mansion; but, well, at least they are SOUTHERN Democrats. With all due respect darlin', I've been involved with Virginia politics for over 20 years.
Marky Mark Warner is NOT a "SOUTHERN" Democrat. He's a tax and spend Connecticut damnyankee. Coke Robb or Gerald Baliles were also not "SOUTHERN" Democrats, although at least Baliles was a native Virginian.
The days of the Southern Democrats in Virginia are long gone. Trust me on that one.
We take NOTHING for granted. This fight will be long and hard.
We WILL win, but we must never adopt the attitude of "frontrunner" even when we are.

This November, Virginians will elect a governor. If the election were today, and the only three candidates on the ballot were Republican Jerry Kilgore, Democrat Tim Kaine, and Independent Russ Potts, who would you vote for? (493 Registered Voters)

This poll obviously demonstrates the strength of Democrat Tim Kaine, the next Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has a slight majority of the black vote, but his real strenght comes among the Commonwealth's liberal democrats, like us news-media people. Sensible Virginians--blacks, Democrats, liberals, apoliticals, postgraduate students (gasp...that would be me), and northeastern transplants all agree--Kilgore sucks. This message brought to you by the liberal media.

Well, Sugar, I guess I had better become a little better informed than I seem to be. I have been voting in elections here in Virginia since they first allowed 18 year olds to vote. Now when was that? I was 18 in 1967. Hmmm. I think I got to vote for President Nixon's second term in office. Anyway, it has been more than 20 years. I guess you young folks will have to teach us older folks a thing or two, now won't you, hmmmm? ;)

Discussing the current 'damnyankee carbetbagger' governor this weekend....my husband came up with a couple of more politically correct terms........Samsonite Socialists and Laptop Leninists.
We're both transplanted yankees - him from Massachusetts via Delaware and me from New York via Delaware..................but it's lots of years in SOUTHERN Delaware.

I've only been in Virginia 2 years and I know the difference between a Southern Democrat (we called them dixiecrats in Delaware) and a carpetbagging tax and spend liberal - which is exactly what Mark Warner is.
For the life of me I couldn't figure out why he could elected - and I was sorta paying attention because we had already decided to move here during the campaign. He talked a good talk and it was bought - I don't think it will happen again this year.

We can play one upsmanship all day long. I've been voting since 1976. But I campaigned for Barry Goldwater in 1964. I started my
professional involvement in politics more than 20 years ago.
That said, there are no "Southern" Democrats in Virginia anymore. The last of the good guys, no pun intended, Virgil Goode, came over to our side a good while back. Marky Mark wants you to think he's a Southern Democrat. He ain't. Never was. Never will be.
The last "Southern Democrat" Governor we had was Mills Godwin - first term.
To: Corin Stormhands
Ok, ok. Not trying to play one upmanship with you. I just thought you were some little northern boy who had moved down here to teach all of us how politics should be. LOL! I was born in the U.P. of Michigan myself, of a Virginia mother and a Wisconsin father, but we came back to Virginia when I was 10. LOL! I remember Mills Godwin, but I think I was in 7th grade then. :) Yes, I like Virgil Goode. I am glad he is on our side. No, I am not happy with Mark Warner either. I did not vote for him, naturally. I always vote Republican.
