".If you say Moderate you are trying to act as if you are some kind of great thinker. Someone who really thinks everything through."

It is also a ploy. If they can convince enough people that "moderate" means "middle of the road" (without the yellow stripe), then it means "sensible, thoughtful, centrist"..........or "not extreme." This gives them the platform to then call conservatives "extreme." I'm sure that Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy will tell you that they are "moderates."

How many times, during the campaign, did we hear Pelosi, Kennedy and the rest of the crowd on the far left, use the term "extreme" to characterize George W. Bush and his policies? If they can convince enough voters that "extreme" equals "dangerous," then they've scored the points they want to, by calling themselves "moderates."

I include that with domestic issues. I was the also the first type. I actually at one tinme believed in public education, affirmative action, and tolerance. Needless to say, thinking back, it p!$$es me off to no end that they can decieve so many and I sure as hell don't like being lied to to betray my country and Constitution.

Congratulations to the both of us who saw the light. My awakening was Sept. 11 and stumbling upon FR (thank God).

'Classical liberalism', maybe. 'Libertarianism' as embodied in the LP is in favor of open borders and against a robust national defense. I agree with neither of those positions.
