Indy Media seems to have no trouble doing full text copying of the WaPo,
http://dc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/120609/index.php.
And they inaccurately titled the article "Washington Post say IMC's "are a magnet for deranged losers,"" despite the fact that the WP was quoting someone else, someone who nailed the truth about the Indy Media Centers (IMCs). [Maybe it's poetic justice to falsely claim that the Post was saying that as opposed to quoting another. After all the Post constantly said (circa 1997?) that Drudge called Sid Blumenthal a wife-beater when Drudge had simply reported that his sources made that claim.]
The Indy summary at the beginning was as follows:
QUOTED PORTION
An article on the front page of Monday, April 4th style section says "the independent media sites, which are open forums and generally take a left-leaning stand against the Iraq war, the Bush administration and excesses of global corporate capitalism, was serving as a kind of "incubator . . . a magnet for deranged losers."
This guy sounds a lot like Ralph Nader...OH MY! How many people has Ralph killed?!
I agree that indy media sites are magnets for losers. But here's the incubator:
...To Evergreen State College, a liberal bastion in Olympia, Wash., where students do not get letter grades and are free to pursue independent study. In his freshman year, he took a class called "Barking at the Moon" with professor Sara Rideout Huntington, where they studied the use of metaphor and read a Cormac McCarthy novel, watched Susan Sontag films and delved into the meaning of kitsch. Afterward, Mickel spent a year on "an individual contract," as Evergreen State calls it, working on his writing under the guidance of Huntington...
PING
Thanks.
Sad that we allow things like this to say they are
American. or to think that they consider themselves as human.
