Oh, I love "sharp as a marble!" That's a good one.

How about "...he/she is from the shallow end of the gene pool." ;)

Heard that awhile back, gotta remember that also. RE "sharp as a marble" I normally credit "Bill C." but it appears to have already been in the vernacular.

"Dumb as a stump" is another that comes to mind. I did a quick google search on that one and this is hit # 1:

http://www.clichesite.com/content.asp?which=tip+1846

JACKPOT !

Couldn't find his way out of a paper bag
Doesn't have both oars in the water
Dumb as a post
Dumber than a bag of hammers
Dumber than a box of rocks
Few bricks shy
Few fries short of a happy meal
Few sandwiches short of a picnic
Half a bubble off
His/Her elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor
Just fell off the turnip truck <<< ha ha !
Lights are on but there's nobody home
Not playing with a full deck
Not the brightest bulb (in the box / on the tree / in the chandelier)
Not the brightest crayon in the box
Not the sharpest crayon in the box
Not the sharpest knife in the cabinet
Not the sharpest pencil in the box
One taco short of a combination plate
Sharp as a marble << Bill, dude, dewd, deewd, dood!
Thick as a brick
Thick as a ditch
Wheel is turning but the hamster is dead

.... all of which accurately portray Socialism, Marxism and Marxist-Leninist thinking. (IMHO)
