Are we getting PC? Told you I wasn't a "nice guy." ;) snert A derogatory term commonly used on the Internet ECHO BBS, echonyc.com, meaning to "make overtures of a sexual nature". It implies terminal cluelessness. (1995-03-01)

NO Freepathons are stupid. I was being (hang on now) a smart mouth. Probably a poor choice of words???

:)

And thanks VERY MUCH for that donation. I for one, want the lights to be kept on.

Good morning Brad's Gramma!

I'm gonna fill my F-150 SVT Lightning with 92 octane this morning and then do some grocery shopping ~ ho-ho-ho. :):)

Gotta keep its 425 HP engine happy.

Ford Bump...

The director of Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) steadfastly denied that the Lightning pickup has been killed.

John Coletti said some media and enthusiasts have interpreted the group's decision to postpone work on the next-generation truck as meaning the program is cancelled...

..."Some of the early ones just didn't get there. It wasn't meeting our internal objectives," said Coletti, who also stressed that some of the early models of the Mustang Cobra and even Ford GT didn't reach performance goals in the beginning. "That's not usual. We evaluate it as a team and say we got to have more or we say it's right," said Coletti.

A Lightning concept based on the new F-150 platform made its debut at the 2003 North American International Auto Show. It featured aggressive bodywork and a 500-horsepower, supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine and an independent rear suspension.

Sources from the SVT Owners Association who attended the luncheon said their membership has been outraged at the decision. But some also admit the value of their Lightnings has increased.

I hope they do make the new model, I have and '01 and it works pretty good ~ I stepped the engine performance up from 380 HP to 425 HP and it embarrasses many local hot shoes. :):)

How do you keep the tires from scorching? Seems like it would be too light in the rear end to keep the power transmitted!

I beat a bunch of friends in the 60's, with my dad's 383 Chrysler. It was heavy, and did not leave rubber. They loved to see smoke. I liked the finish!

The tires are Goodyear™ Eagle F1-GS™, 295/45ZR-18, unidirectional tread and they stick great ~ The Lightning has a 9.75-inch ring gear with limited-slip differential, 3.73:1 ratio rear axle and both wheels spin if you nail the throttle, it has an automatic 4 speed tranny and it's a little easier to keep from spinning the tires.

I raced a Vette and he lost because he dropped the clutch and cooked the tires.

You can't nail the throttle unless you going about 50 mph, anything under that will cause the tires to smoke and you get all sideways.

I have 19K miles on it and just put on a new set of tires at $238 @ tire.

Old guys like to go fast, too. ;)

I really don't know. I was just not going to spend the extra money to get the Cayenne Turbo S... but, I can still lust!

$89K for a Cayenne Turbo S is a bit much for a SUV/station wagon. :):)

We have an old '90 Ford full size Eddie Bauer 4X4 Bronco, 351 cid Cleveland V8 with Bilstein shocks, Banks intake and exhaust, Banks shift kit and a Jet performance chip. It has 90K trouble free miles on it, the only thing I've had to fix was new valve cover gaskets, new engine belt and idler pully and a drivers side electric door lock.

I'm a big Ford fan! :)
