In the worst case, the federal probe could lead to tearing apart the bridge to see if it is structurally sound or needs to be rebuilt.
If they tear it apart, I'm pretty sure than means it'll have to be rebuilt. Pretty sure.

Fired welders making complaints against their former employer. Gee, that hardly ever happens.

There's a lot of good one's out there, but a lot of construction workers are just complete and utter crap when it comes to doing something right the first time.

The Golden Gate Bridge - four years from conception to completion and it's still standing, even though the designers and builders didn't have the "state-of-the-art" technology we have today.
If it was being built today, it would probably take twenty years and have to be retrofitted after another ten.
It's very fortunate that we Californians had ancestors who actually knew how to do things.

"Fired UNION welders making complaints against their former employer. Gee, that hardly ever happens."
I smell a shakedown, this all stinks.

With only a few thousand welds in a structure that critical, I do not understand why they were not all required to be X-rayed.

I'd be looking for the union angle in this one. Sounds like it could be a shakedown case.

"He said welders were not trained to judge the quality of welds."
How would they know how to produce a "quality" weld to begin with then?

I was thinking the same thing, I was a pipefitter once and know how easy it is to Xray welds.

Basically, from this point on...every single welder needs to have his work examined...and these little twits who allege this poor work...they ought to forget about any future jobs. If they couldn't do the job right...they ought to be working at McDonalds. Our trust in their ability is now questionable...and they ought to be locked up if they are telling the truth.
To: Dog Gone
You are right, I'm sure we'll be better off just ignoring this instead.
