I know it may dismay you but all those great quotes by our Founding Fathers, you know, the ones that every FReeper has stowed away ... I use those quotes too. I KNOW this is a Christian nation founded pioneered and kept free by Christians, Christian ideals and courage.
It's just I don't buy whole hog the Right to Life crowd's doctrine.

It's ok for the people to choose so long as they choose what I want? Sounds like he's being sarcastic...a bully wouldn't allow such a document to come into existence.
As for the Church itself, it's most likely the best choice for our nation but forcing an institution on someone unconditionally (even a good one) is just not productive. One may claim that a child must be instructed unconditionally so that it may avoid painful lessons but there is a difference between that and forcing it without cause or reason. Also, when basic morals are not at stake its all right to pick and choose. There is such a thing as too much "Westernness", eventually it becomes a headache. You may claim that other cultures are poor examples of morality. That may be but it doesn't mean we can't learn from their mistakes and their successes. We haven't thought of everything either. Pass the Chop Sui please!!!

I'm afraid I don't follow your reading incomprehension. What part don't you understand about the duty and priviledge of Christians in a Christian nation that Jay was referring to.
