Even worse, the chuch is owned by the Diocese, which this Bishop is in charge of. So if the church is sold for the property, he will get the money.
Also, with that low of an annual Church Budget, $40,000/year. The dioscese was probably funding the difference which was probably close to $250,000 per year.
Last but not least, a church that can't meet its budget usually doesn't send a monthly check for their diocesian assessment to the Bishop.
So closing this church is a win/win for this Bishop from the Dark Side.

The people have spoken - woohooo!! something to be said for congregational format instead of synod format. But both have their sets of troubles.

After the Vickie Gene consecration, the House of Bishops at last year's retreat decided to throw a bone to parishes that had theological problems with their bishops. It was called Delegated Episcopal Pastoral Oversight (DEPO) so that if a priest had a particular problem with his bishop, he could apply for pastoral oversight from another bishop. This turned out to be a sham, as those priests who did apply for DEPO ended up being deposed or are being threatened with deposition and inhibition to minister...6 priests in Connecticut, 1 in Alabama, 3 in California, 6 in Chicago, and lately 1 in Arizona, 2 in Kansas (I'm sure there are more).
So, in the Episcopal Church, you can believe anything you like, just not the "traditional" teachings which are narrow and restrictive...God is doing a new thing...and if you don't believe it, leave already.
In my own state, a handful of churches have left ECUSA and have aligned themselves with African churches, the priests deposed, but re-ordained under Abp. Akinola (Nigeria) or Abp. Orombi (Uganda) so have retained Anglican Communion status. They have renamed themselves Anglican Churches.
At present, you have 2 parallel Anglican Communion jurisdictions in the US. Soon, we'll know the fate of ECUSA, if the attempts to pull wool over the Southern Cone bishops (where the bulk of Anglicans are) are successful or not (Read the "Covenant" which pays lip service to the propositions of the Windsor Report).
Those of us who remain are networking and putting up resistance where we can. The House of Bishops though are mulling over widening who can be hauled in front of ecclesiastical court to include lay people, where now, it's just ordained people. So I could get hauled in front of EC for mounting insurrection and be excommunicated.
