The ordination of women was the downfall of the Episcopal Church. I will be devastated if the Roman Catholic Church goes that way. As a Bishop once xplained it to me, God is the Father, Jesus the Son. If God is now the Mother, then Father and Son become unimportant as the head of the family. That progression of thought is obvious im apostate churches of today, and the resultant influence of this thinking is evident in the state of American families today. The Catholic Church MUST stay away from this type of feminism.

I'm not Catholic but I would guess it has to do with the large change in status in so many ways when one is elevated to the papacy. Perhaps someone who is better versed in Roman Catholicism can answer your question more definitively.

If I am not mistaken, that picture was taken at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, and the Holy Father was teasing the East German Border Guards, who were looking at him through binoculars.

Incidentally, around the time of his visit to Berlin, the East Germans built a television tower with a large round observatory at the top. Light refracting off the observatory formed a perfect cross, so the Berliners began calling the tower the "Pope's Revenge."

Amen and Amen..God Bless Pope John Paul, I feel so sad..
May Jesus welcome him with eternal Peace and Happiness..

We will miss the great man you are....

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.

"Wow, that's such a Christian attitude on a thread about the passing of the Holy Father."

You are right and I apologize... I should not have made that type of comment to you on this thread...

If you read the first part of my comment, you'd also see that we've been quite serene, pleasant and frankly, almost family-like in our posts and in our shared remembrances... You jumped in on your first post to the threead with a bad attitude and I didn't think it was appropriate.... I do take back what I said Mary and ask that you accept my apology, I am sorry...

Dave

To my fellow Catholics, we must remember John Paul's favorite saying: 'Be not afraid.'

Extending that saying to all Christians:

I have this image, with the saying "Be Not Afraid," hanging on my wall as a tapestry.

It means more to me today, than ever.

Thank you so much for this thread, CitizenM. I went to church for Saturday PM Mass, and I was the only one crying. I wouldn't even consider myself a devout catholic, but I feel like a lost sheep. I knew I could find some comfort here. I always do.

You are all such beautiful people. It will take me forever to read all the posts. And every picture is beautiful. These are all expressions to save forever and read at times of stress.

Isn't it wonderful to behold such unity?!!!

And to think, all over the world people in unison loved this exalted man and felt his passing touch their hearts.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usThe world's words of praise and devotion compose Pope John Paul, II's "Ode To Joy!" And the Trumpeter Angels in Heaven will play this song that we have lifted on his behalf as he passes through the golden gates.

Welcome Great John Paul, II. Welcome To Heaven!

I did not see the #662 comment but would not doubt if it was directed at me for a previous post I made... If that was the case, I apologize to the group on the thread... This should be a thread in which NO COMMENTS should need deleting, so if it was me that caused it, I am sorry to all of you....

Dave, Thank you for the apology. I still think the particular post was inappropriate for this thread; if my response sounded harsh, I apologize.

Foxnews showing President Bush attending a mass at St. Matthews Cathedral, which was quite unexpected.
