In the Divine Mercy Novena for Saturday the words of Jesus to St. Faustina were: "Today bring to Me the Souls who have become Lukewarm, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.' For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy."
And Pope John Paul the Great has throughout his Pontificate sought out the lukewarm to draw them to the fire of faith and the fire of love in Jesus Christ. And even now in his dying the lukewarm and the marginal and the occasional believer in God are touched by the Apostle of the Gospel of Life, Pope John Paul the Great.
Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.
How blessed that he was lifted up to God with the prayers of all those dear people in the square.
very nice to read the Latin, Knotts. Thank you.
They've already set their clocks ahead for daylight saving time in case you want to know exact time here.
Rest in Peace, Pope John Paul II.
Was 15 feet away from him in Des Moines in '79.
Thanks to all non-catholics here who also loved the Pope. It's extremely heartening to me to read your thoughts. Very helpful, truly.
May he Rest in Peace.
Thank you John Paul for your service. God has called you back as He will all of us. Well done.
Maggio il signore li benedice e mantiene, il padre John Paul II
And also with you
God bless Pope John Paul II and may his soul rest in peace.
Oh stm, don't look at this as dreadful.... He is with God, we've lost him on earth, but he has been such a wonderful Pontiff for us... And in being so, has brought you and I closer to our God as well.... it's ok to celebrate, even through tears... :) If none of your brothers or sisters in Christ have told you today that they love you, I do....
Dave
My thoughts and prayers are with my Catholic friends & brethren this afternoon.
CNN hasn't even updated their site....they are sucking this up.
Well, the Pope is now in glory.
Be strong and of good faith.
Lord God, Our Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sharing this special soul with us. Now Your arms are open to receive him and the angels rejoice as they welcome him.
Pope John Paul II
The Holy Father, a special man.
