... a very big attack

I don't think I've ever heard of a platoon assault described as a very big attack before. My concept of a big attack is what the Germans did at The Bulge in WW II. That was a big attack.

My guess is this assault was planned as a diversion to correspond with a breakout of prisoners and perhaps an attempt to seize Abu Ghraib, but the tunnels were found and the breakout foiled.

Since al Qaeda had their assault platoon all organized they went ahead with a propaganda assault.

Two to four mortar teams lobbing rounds wildly at Abu Ghraib, a couple of car bombs and a lot of wild shooting.

The attackers were repelled, wounding some Marines but didn't accomplish a damned thing outside of grabbing the headlines in the liberal news.

Good assessment, however don't forget about the prison break in Fallujah last year. That one was a well planned and executed mission.

Someone on the OPFOR is capable of mission planning.

My approach is based on mathematical certainty, DUmmy. Yours is liberal pop psychology BS. You don't have a clue. Not a clue. Go to DU. You'll fit in well.

Your absolutely right. They always do this crap and then more of our kids get whacked.

I have been to and worked around Abu G. It is not an easy target. It gets hit a lot with rockets, mortars and suicide bombs.

How do you get 50 or 60 terrorists together for an attack without the locals knowing about it. The so called insurgent problem in Iraq won´t go away until local Iraqis get involved and inform on them.
