"As steel sharpens steel, so one brother sharpens another."
I have found both sparks and fire in conversations with my fellow freepers, and have indeed been sharpened here. Many that I have struck against and been struck by have become friends. I find that the best of bonds are formed in the fires of adversity

I suppose some would rather go down in a blaze of glory fighting for what they believe in than take the non-combatant way. The ones who died trying are the ones we will remember.

As I recall, everyone who fought at the Alamo died - the survivors were a woman, a child and (as I recall) a slave.
As the monument says in front of the Alamo:
No surrender. No retreat. Remember the Alamo!
