The recommendations of this medical expert were ignored. He also found indications of a severe cervical injury. As far as I know, no one ordered CT scans of Terri's cervical spine. MS refused to permit her to be further evaluated. No speech therapy was ever allowed.
I agree with others who say Terri is being murdered by a corrupt court system in Florida. Jeb Bush is also a huge disappointment. The whole state is floating in corruption as far as I can tell.
As an aside, I Googled these terms "Mexico + corruption" and a few others today. Me thinks it is no accident that the two major access points for drug coming into the U.S. in 1997 were Texas (via Juarez) and Florida. But what do I know anyway? I'm just an old geezer living in Oregon.

As far as the Nobel Prize recommendation, this does not reflect on the Dr. but it does reflect on the Congressman. Physicians are seldom accused of humility--this doubly so when they have prominence and a long c.v.

Pardon me, if I sound stupid, but is this report saying the husband did not allow her to be treated for urinary tract infections? I'm just wondering if I'm reading it right.

Have you all seen this incredible tape of Terri opening her eyes for the dr. - he keeps saying "open you eyes{ - so she finally arches her eyebrows high and her eyes wide as if to say: "Hey, how about THIS!"
It will make you laugh and then cry - SHE IS THERE - she needs therapy...THIS IS A MUST - must get it our everyone. I've sent it to all the FOX addresses, Rush, Hannity ets - but they have to get slammed with this to pay attention, so it doesn't get lost.

This exam took place during a time that the doc was promoting himself as a wunderdoc for all sorts of brain injury, expectially stroks. He was ultimately dinged by the State of Florida for his bogus claims.

So here we have a bogus Nobel nomination, and a conviction by the State of Florida for bogus ads, claiming about the same time that Terri would respond to care.
If you're gonna make an argument then you've GOT to be careful about your sources. The Left wears pajamas, too.
Whatever the story about the Nobel Prize, this whole report sounds sensible and reasonable to me. If he has an ego trip about the nomination, big deal. A little pompousness doesn't discredit him.
She has been examined, usually for a short time only, by serveral Death Doctors, and it's understandable that she does not respond to them. As you can see from this report, she responds to pleasurable sounds and voices she knows and loves. But she does not respond that way to those who clearly wish her ill.
She did not respond to Dr. Hammesfahr at first because she has had mostly unpleasant experiences with doctors. But once she understood he was trying to help her, she did respond.
It's no wonder if she takes some time to respond and has muscles that have seized up. Anyone would, after being kept lying in the dark for 15 years, deprived of human contacts and any kind of stimulation. Michael has ordered her blinds down, her lights off, and has ordered that the nurses should not speak to her.
And what the hell kind of doctor would not be concerned about bacterial infection of the bladder?
Uh huh.
"Terri, blink your eyes."
No response.
"Terri, squeeze my hand?"
No response.
"Terri, look at your mother?"
No response... wait! She's blinking rapidly! That counts as a hit on the first question! Clearly she can understand what I was asking and it's not just a random event!

This kind of BS pseudoscience only hurts the case for keeping her alive.
"Terri Schiavo is not in a "persistent vegetative state," she will respond to therapy. They are murdering this woman!"
If this is a legitamate exam, then this finding is not consistent with someone that is functioning only on "brain stem." I am starting to wonder if the "Cat Scan" image being shown at various places (like the MSM) is bogus or doctored(no pun intended). Something is horribly wrong here.
Baring an absolutely miraculous regeneration of her brain damage, Terri could never be the person she was. However, it is obvious to me that if she had of received more agressive therapy early on she would today not be considered PVS just severely handicapped. This is so very sad.
I say this as a PT, who's seen many in conditions much worse than she.
