I'm not trying to sound snotty either...
I believe the push of CIPRO was mainly proposed by the drug companies, and it would not surprise me one bit if the people who were responsible for sending the bacillus were in fact related to the pharmaceutical companies, yes I know that sound very "Tin-Foil". Bacillus anthracis is susceptible to penicillin, doxycycline, and fluoroquinolones. Plenty of that stuff around.
I'm actually part of a distributed computing here:

Helping to evaluate potential drug candidates...

There was also an age differential. The older you were the worse it was. This seemed to have surprised all the researchers since it had never been observed.

I've seen that...
I've read up on it a bit too, I read some stuff that was published by military personel that were trained to work with the stuff...
The issue of bio-weapons is scary, like any other potential threat to us.
But I'm far more likely to be broadsided on my drive home by a drunk driver than come in contact with a bio-agent.
For the most part the media fans the flames to get everyone anxious over the issue...

The media fan the flames. We lost the use of half a billion dollars worth of company resources for 3 years and had several employees and customers die.
