Last I looked, it was the Romans who crucified Jesus.
The Jews didn't kill Jesus. Technically, the pagan Romans did so. However, Jesus told us that He was laying down His life willingly for us, and also said He would take it up again. (And He did!)
So, if someone is sincere and has faith, but remains unchanged, then they were not really sincere or had enough faith?
This is more silliness.
Might as well say Jesus was killed by bipeds.
Since the Jews and Romans of the time were doing God's will, there can be no blame for anyone who participated in or contributed to Jesus' crucifixion.
Some vile, truly evil person invented this "blame the Jew's" canard to fan the flames of anti-semitism throughout all levels of Christendom.
Lots of people would condemn Him, don't know who would pull the trigger, but someone would. And then He would be back among us again. I'd be amazed.
"Last I looked, it was the Romans who crucified Jesus."
Don't tell the Romans that. The Pope lives there now.
It's easier to scapegoat the Jews.
I doubt it would be government sanctioned..that would just be murder, and probably wouldn't have the same impact.
Bump fo later reading
Incidentally, WE all were there on Calvary on that Good Friday centuries ago...true, not in our present form, but in the form of elements that would one day make up our present form--we are ALL (Jew, Gentile, Moslem) guilty.
This is not an attack on Jews. All men are sinful. We all need the blood of Christ for forgiveness.
But the twisting of scriptures for political or secular purposes is truly a waste of time.
The Jews today have no bigger stigma placed on them because of the actions of the Jews who killed Jesus.
There are critics that claim that the whole paragraph about Jesus in Josephus' book was added much later to better conform to church history. Has anyone else read and believe that contention?
If we were all there in the form of elements, doesn't that make us all the same? Why the big deal about how someone believes?
I have no idea...
This the Internet dingaling..
I don't even know if Stu is your name..
I said pray
not search the Internet for life's deepest and most profound questions and answers..
If God is not real he/it won't answer you or you got an answer you didn't like and rejected it..
Pretty simple really.. Metaphorically the sheep and goats are being separated NOW..
Would be nice to know which you are I would think..
Unless your a goat, then you may not care at all.. still a good thing..
Too many goats in among the sheep, there's wolves too..
Ain't easy being a sheep these days.. thats why I say, Pray..
Or not.. your choice..
**Note..
Sheep = Biblical metaphorical reference to followers of the Judeo-Christian God..
Goat = Biblical metaphorical reference to poseurs, actors(hypocrite), nominal believer, groupie...
Indeed it does...there is no big deal about how someone believes (IMHO, personally because I'm somewhat of a universalist) because somehow God has a plan for all of us to achieve salvation...
What animal would someone that just believes in God be?
That is true. In the gospel of John, we heard on Good Friday which was a very bad Friday for a lot of us:
John 19:11: (to Pilate) Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delvered me unto thee hath the greater sin."
Also, in John 18:14: "Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people."
Pretty much nails it for me.
So, how can you show someone that you have been saved? How do you convince someone that this is a fact?
The life that I have lived since becoming a Christian
as compared to the life I lived before has convinced
many of my friends and family that I truly had a life
changing experience when I accepted Jesus as my Lord
and Savior.
