Yes. When he gets out of the brig in a few years, with a felony conviction and dishonorable discharge, will the anti-war groups support him since he will be unemployable?.

Will he wonder "Maybe I should have just told Chief I was gay..."?

There have been many brave conscientious objectors that have served as medics.

I agree, a Conscientious Objector will still do his duty, he usually just won't carry a weapon.

Desmond Doss of the 77th Infantry won the Medal of Honor on Okinawa

The famous Sgt. York of WW I was a CO too, I believe;

They both did their duty and fulfilled their oaths.
