We still have the ideal to guide us, if no other reason than clarity. As human beings we all crave for boundaries.

Concerning absolutes, a problem we sometimes have is that while we are discussing principles, which lead to boundaries, unscrupulous debaters (liberals) will posit absolutes, or the extreme boundaries of our principles, and then cite an exception in order to disprove our whole argument. It is discouraging how often they get away with it.
