Comparing Terri to Jesus, calling her a marytr, talking about her being crucified is wrong.

Calling Jeb and the President Pilate is wrong.

She is an innocent woman but some people are beginning to deify her and that is blashemy.

All of this dilutes the message of Jesus.

I agree that Jeb Bush should be doing more. If I were the Governor of Florida, I would mobilize the Florida National Guard and would have them go to the hospice, reinsert the feeding tube, and, if medically feasible, remove Mrs. Schiavo from the hospice to a military hospital. Then, paraphrase President Andrew Jackson (I think it was him, anyway), "Let the Florida Supreme Court's army enforce their rulings."

Terri's blood is probably on all of us. I was heavily involved in the pro-life movement in the late-70s, early-80s, but dropped my activism because it was clear Congress was never going to do anything of significance to assault the situation, and there was too much squabbling in the movement itself. Since then, I've been decidedly pro-life in my opinions, but I've sat on my can while issues like this one in Florida have festered over the past 17 years. My weak intellectualizing of the pro-life position and refusal to be out on the streets and more in the face of the pro-death advocates is as much to blame for where we are today as anything. I don't blame Jeb, W, Congress, or anyone for what they have or haven't done -- I blame myself. Truth is, we conservatives -- all of us -- haven't done enough. We bicker among ourselves over relatively petty issues, while the nation has slid further into the dumper. We're all to blame.

Fair enough.

I should have the balls to be there myself, and I'm ashamed I am not.

COURAGE is what is required. It's really a simple call. I don't know if he realizes this BUT his Presidential FUTURE hangs in the balance here.
NOTHING can happen to him. THE JUDGE HAS NO CLOTHES ON. Only a child can see through this clearly. All the legal sophistcates will give him BAD advise. If he's our man he will see this ,cut through th BS and do the right thing. That is to assert his power and take Terri into custody. There is no downside. Even if she dies, he will at least have put her among FRIENDS.

Maybe the coverage will open enough eyes, pain enough hearts, and strengthen enough souls, that there will be a cleansing of this self anointed Imperial Judiciary.

I sincerely hope so too, but you know what?....I doubt it. Terri will be dead very shortly, and we'll all go back to arguing about some new "outrage" of the moment, and the present outrage will never be addressed.

Yes, they have. This is just horrible.

I'm gonna go watch a movie with my daughter. I can't stand all of this anymore.

I'll see you later! (I'll probably take the nightshift as a "voice of sanity and reason". Thanks for doing the day shift!)

I sympathesize with what you're saying. But I actually think it's too late for Terri -- the courts have stonewalled her parents and flipped-off congress for a week now, a precious week of wasted time -- so I'm not going to lay blame at Jeb Bush for what wasn't done at this late hour. It isn't too late, however, to tear up the road that got us to this point. I'll lay aside any temptation to question anyone's courage in this until I see what happens when Terri is gone. If nothing happens from those in authority, those who have the "bully pulpit," than we'll see where blame should be laid.

You may be right, but do you think any of us will think the same way about judges again? I will not; this case has caused me to do change some long-held notions of where I stand in relationship to my government... and I wan't expecting rainbows and lollipops to begin with.

Because of Terri Schiavo, the mask has been torn off the arrogant, snarling monster of judicial tyrrany for all to see. I won't forget.

I hope your sentiment represents a great many Americans. I knew before this week that the judiciary was corrupt; until this week, I didn't know how corrupt. I think out of all of this, each of us needs to decides what we, individually, can do, and perhaps what we can do collectively. And then we need to do it, no matter how many people come along with us. This is an ugly, ugly fight we have on our hands. Everyone needs to be involved in it, from the Pres. on down to you and me. I'm less inclined to point fingers at any "shirkers" at the moment, but if we all -- not just our leaders in the Senate, or in the statehouses, or wherever in government, but all of us -- don't develop more of a spine and take a risk and meet the level of evil we're facing with an equal or more overwhelming level of courage, we're sunk.

He took an oath to uphold the Constitution. The Constitution is clear on taking life without due process. It can't be done.

Terri's case has not yet been before a jury of her peers. Thus, due process has not yet been served.

I remember landing in Seattle in July of 1969.There was about 20 of us coming back home from Nam. We were greeted by protesters(a truly vile bunch).

We had been warned ahead of time, but it was still a shock. We had all been gone 12 months or more.A coarsening of the culture had occured, and we had missed it.

In many ways, our nation was harmed by that, and there are powerful remnants of those days still at work. The courts are an example.

A fundamental, but widespread, shift back to founding principles could yet occur, but it will take more than one Governor.

That is where the anger should be pointed.Ripping each other apart is not going to solve that problem.
The monster has been forming for 40+ years and will not be destroyed in a few days nor will it disappear willingly or easily.

Funny, I posted an article on this last week and my privilidges were suspended for four days-- someone else posts it and it's ok.

I guess we are subject to the political ideology of the censor on call here at FR..

Frankly, it's going to take all of us...every governor, the president, members of congress, current justices on the court, you me. I've come to the conviction that no one can afford to be AWOL in the war that's going on. We all need to do what we can, and maybe even attempt to do what is beyond our ability to do.

Dr. D. James Kennedy, the president of Coral Ridge Ministries, said that as governor, Jeb Bush is the only legal authority who can stop Terri from starving. "He must act and he must act immediately on her behalf. He must disregard the order of Judge Greer. He has both the authority and the duty to do so under the state constitution," Kennedy said in a press release.

I am afraid Governor Jeb Bush has committed political suicide.

Last week he was a front runner for 2008, now he has made himself pretty much unelectable.

To bad, I liked the guy, but, he just doesn't seem to be willing to do what needs to be done. Hard to picture him dealing with 911 as effectively and quickly as his brother did.

He could have all but wrapped up the 2008 primary had he just gone and done what was right, by giving the order to get Terri out.

They are letting their emotions override everything.

You seem to forget, people vote, based in a large part on emotions.

I couldn't agree with you more...Tonight I witnessed the Schindlers lay all the blame on Jeb..putting them through a week of hell(their words)...I know they are distraught, but this is appalling...they've had 15yrs to work on this case...3yrs ago Jeb saved her, not their inept lawyers...
