No mere man has ever seen, heard or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord.
1 Corinthians 2:9
Let her go home. We can only commend her spirit among the angels for the journey.
I couldn't have said it better. Thanks for the post.
"I weep for Terri Schiavo today. But I fear for more tears in our future, thanks to those who would wad up the Constitutional protections and freedoms wrought by the notion of ignoring the rule of law, simply because those in power didn't get their way."
"Let her go home. We can only commend her spirit among the angels for the journey."
Thank you"mhking"
This may be the bottom line difference. Who gets to say that her body is useless? It is clearly not useless to her parents, who want to take that body home and feed it and love her.
We do not know that it is useless to Terri. The evaluations on her condition seem to lack clarity. And it is said that she has been denied therapies than could improve her condition.
The "let her go to Jesus" is just a sugar coating to hide the horror of what is actual happening. It is not letting nature take its course. It is the premeditated taking away of a human life.
I have always believed that Jesus will remove her pain and tell her she is loved. Terri will always be in our hearts and we love her dearly. I still also pray for God's justice for her life.
Only one judge presided over this case and that is Greer. All other judges just reviewed to determine if Greer followed the law. But those other judges totally overlooked the fact that Greer may have had a conflict of interest in deciding this case. It has been reported (by John Armor) that Greer accepted campaign contributions from Michael Schiavo's lawyers? The world can see that the decision to allow Michael Schiavo to continue as guardian for Terri was a bad decision. He has so much conflict of interest baggage and possible criminal involvement in Terri's present condition that it is almost insane to let him decide her fate..........
Ahh, Michael. This is where I disagree. I don't think they did.
You had one arrogant incompentent with most of the rest seeking to duck the issue to avoid unpleasant at the club. At least that's my view.
Well, if you're asking God questions, how about this one:
Do you believe that life is a gift from God and is neither ours to take nor judge as to its quality or desirability?
Baloney. You can't earn you way to Heaven, that is stupid. Terri and her family knows she will go to Heaven because she has believed that Jesus Christ died for her sins.
Now Michael, on the other hand, has certainly earned his spot in Hell - along with a lot of politicians, medical persons, lawyers, judges and voters who voted for 8 years of Bill Clinton, who put these murderous judges in power in the first place.
This is a land of laws, not men. And the political problems that are surfacing -- on both sides -- point toward the deterioration of our constitutional republic. Are you ready for that? Are you ready for that will mean in the future?
I weep for Terri Schiavo today. But I fear for more tears in our future, thanks to those who would wad up the Constitutional protections and freedoms wrought by the notion of ignoring the rule of law, simply because those in power didn't get their way.
I'm glad I am not the only one alarmed at the flippant way my fellow religious conservatives are willing to discard the Constitution and laws in this country when they don't get their way.
I don't want to live in a country run by a left wing OR right wing dictator!
That is much more frightening to me than poor Terri finally going home to Jesus after 15 years in a PVS.
Well reasoned. Well said.
This is a land of judges, who make up "law" as they go, in order to enact a social revolution by fiat. Sometimes issue ultimata to legislatures ordering them to pass the laws they demand, but usually they issue ex cathedra decisions taking the power to legislate away from the representatives of the people.
The technical term for that is "judicial tyranny". Don't pretend it's a rule of law. It's a rule of dictators with law degrees wearing black robes, that's all.
32All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'After this, this nation will be with the goats on the left.
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:35-46 KJV)
There is a difference between letting someone go home and sending them home.
You can slice and dice the law anyway you want.
However, it is clear that there are constitutional rights that we have that trump anything that a county probate judge can rule.
Jeb Bush did not need Judge Greer's permission to take Terri under state protective custody. He still does not.
He is not Judge Greer's lesser, he is Judge Greer's equal, under the law.
As the Chief Executive of Florida he has the power already to trump Mr. Greer. And he has very good reasons to do so.
There is a monstrous evil behind the thought that Terri deserves to die.
If Jeb or George, good men that they are , fail to act, there will be no stopping what comes next because there will be now be precedent for getting rid of those who "should be allowed to go home".
We have seen how a county probate judge can take hearsay evidence from one side to the exclusion of the other, from a guardian who is in a conflict of interest, and ruled that an innocent incapacitated, non terminal person can be starved to death by rule of law.And how a county probate judge can disregard a Congressional subpeaona,
Federal judges disregarding a law passed by Congress and signed by the President in an effort to cover for each other and to show the Executive and Legislative branches who is theri master, and a county probate judge who tells the Governor of a state that he may not enforce a duly passed statute involving the actions of an executive agency.
So bow down to your new masters, the judiciary. Is this the law that we are being told that we have to accept?
If you will not fight that, where will you fight? The American Revolution was started over taxes. This is about who controls your life.
This is Jeb's watershed moment. History has visited it upon him, whether he or we wish it or not.
He has someone's life in his hands. He must act for good, even if it costs him something.
The world awaits.
While I am sure that Jesus is awaiting her. I am sure he wants her to live a while longer
Sorry -- I don't see the point of this -- a murder is taking place and you are suggesting that its a good thing? You want to provide a touchy-feeling answer that ignores the real issue?
For me, the Terri Schiavo story has reinforced the idea that we are not living in a Republic. When we've come to the place where a lone judge can usurp the right of the Legislative branch of Government, we all lose.
Congratulations! When I posted the same sentiment that we should allow Terri to die and return to God, the Admin Moderator censored it by pulling the entire thread and told me not to re-post.
Perhaps some sanity has finally returned to Free Republic.
