but I've had WINDOWS for over 10 years, I have an always-on internet connection with no fancy firewall. I've never had a virus of any kind on my computer. I've also never had spyware spontaneously install itself on my computer. Are you sure that you're logged on?

any more than the *numerous* discussions, FAQs, warnings, bulletins, Service Packs, etc., have deterred PC users from believing in Windows' position as comparable to Prometheus bringing fire from the Gods to mortals and the Mac platform as an abomination from the depths of Hell that must be stamped out, ridiculed and hounded out of existence at any cost. That about cover it?
That was good. I finally understand the PC users hatred of Mac and Mac users; if Mac doesn't' exist, then the Windowsbox becomes the best.

I consider the iTunes hack more of an 'application enhancement' than a 'vulnerability' - if it allows people to use purchased music on their third-market devices (coincidentally increasing Apple's customer base) then what's Symantec's justification?
Anyway - it's an app-hack; NOT an OS/security-hack.

(So what if I support a platform that has fewer flaws than yours? 'Mystic' dual 500 G4's, OSX.3.7)
To: solitas
ACTUALLY, thinking about it, it's not even an app-hack: the songs are downloaded and processed independently of iTunes, right? It's a file-converter.

I seem to remember someone who couldn't hang because "my computer is too slowwwww" and somone else who was incapable of shooting straight despite buying a sniper rifle every round.
I remember getting more kills as a VIP with a knife than others who were campers.
I miss letting you guys win to preserve your self esteem!!
I've been giving the straight Q3 beatdown to some Marines I work with. I run Q3 on my slooooooow Apple laptop and they run it on 2ghz Dell Windoze boxes.
Humiliation!!

Been running without virus protection for 10 years. All those programs did was screw up other system ops. There have been NO Mac viruses reported. There have been discoveries of potential access into the Mac OS but none of these have been exploited. Apple patches their systems, however, when they verify a potential exploit. Symantec is blowing smoke to pump up sales. Now on the Windows boxes I use...well, mikegi said it best, "Maybe the hackers are getting bored with screwing up Windows users." Maybe, but I doubt it.

I read the article, something I seldom do with the Post. They didn't list any specific threats, any numbers, or anything else, except assertations that attacks are up. I use Virex, as it comes with my .Mac subscription. Never been infected on my Mac.
