Then it appears that these neurologists cannot make a definitive diagnosis of a PVS if they are unable to perform the tests that would determine the FUNCTIONING of what is left of Terri's cerebral cortex.

According to her husband and according to the law that's all I need. Again, I deal with this similar senario several times yearly.

What are the salient characteristics of a "similar scenario"? I'm just curious - could you please give one example and comment on the contrast between the state of the brain and the rest of the body?

Like I said, I'm impressed, especially with your involvement. You've probably got quite a few scalps in your belt. I get the impression you like having innocent blood on your hands, kind of reveling in it.

There was a time when doctors were pledged to preserve life. In this brave new world and culture of death, I guess that has changed. Something to be really, really proud of. Well, it looks like you'll have your chance to dance on Terri's grave soon. Maybe Michael will invite you to the celebration when she dies. Meantime, have a glass of water and a bite to eat. That's more than Terri Schiavo is getting.

Wait a minute, I thought that another doctor said that the entire cortex was destroyed and was filled with spinal fluid? Was that doctor wrong? Is this doctor wrong? How many other doctors were wrong?

There we have it, enough reasoable doubt to let her die.

frankly if you are blaming me for what happened to my dad your an idiot. The man to blame is a man named Tie Hoffman who was speeding on ice and caused his accident plus a lot of pain for my family. I was twelve when this happened. Is what you do your children's fault. Fortunately what happened to me made me an advocate for people with brain injuries. If you aren't blaming me than what are you doing. Hey my kid sister was 8 why don't you blame her too an eight year old must have had legal guardianship over my dad, maybe it was her fault too. I mean she's my mother's daughter also she must have supported the decision, I mean she was in third grade after all, what a scholar!

EEG would most likely be normal. Unless she was actively seizing or it can be globally abnormal in certain metabolic abnormalities.

Don't get upset, don't work up too much of a sweat, you might dehydrate. Go get a refreshing glass of water and calm down.

at least one Noble-prize nominated neurologist who spent 10 hours with her says that she is not in a PVS.

Oh you mean the neurologist who had his lawyer friend nominate him. He was not nominated by any medical or scientific people. He was nominated by a friend for publicity purposes. Note, he didnt win a Noble prize. A friend merely nominated him. Would you like to be nominated? I could probably make it happen.

While no formal proof emerged, the medical records note that the combination of aggressive weight loss, diet control and excessive hydration raised questions about Theresa suffering from Bulimia...

Michael Schiavo, on Theresa's and his own behalf, initiated a medical malpractice lawsuit against the obstetrician who had been overseeing Theresa's fertility therapy. In 1993, the malpractice action concluded in Theresa and Michael's favor, resulting in a two element award: More than $750,000 in economic damages for Theresa, and a loss of consortium award (non economic damages) of $300,000 to Michael.

Ok, does one of the fancy pants lawyers on this board want to explain to me how a fertility specialist is responsible for Terri's choices in diet and exercise (and seemingly binging and purging)?

Unless there is more to the story, this is an absurd miscarriage of justice. (Of course, I am sure that describes 90% of what lawyers do.)

They can tell that to Terry Wallis and his family. Terry was in a coma for 19 years, his family has been caring for him all this time at their home. Terry is now speaking. The doctors have no ideas as to how he regained his ability to speak. They said he would never speak again. Terry's mother neve lost hope and said she knew he would get better.

Please you flatter yourself without cause. Hubris is never attractive, but when it's completely delusional it's all the uglier.

Could MS be using the malpractice proceeds to fund a web of medical deception through bribery?
