I smoked it twice in college. I hated that stuff since it made me paranoid. People were staring at me laughing at my glass eyes, and knocking on a door pretending they were cops.
Haven't touched the stuff in 6 years.
Some day we will celebrate the attainment of a risk-free society, and promptly be arrested for it.

Yeah, schizos are known to self-medicate, so it may very well be a question of which came first, the joint or the voices.
This has been popular "country" wisdom for so long as I remember, though the folks who prescribe tobacco smoking for certain crazy people don't call it schizophrenia. I know a woman whose doctor reccommended to the family(she was then 58) that she take up smoking. Her schizo problem caused her family less hassle after she did start smoking.
