I found this to be a bit shocking, to say the least.

Looks like a kidnapping occurred, how come that mother wasn't arrested.
Since the local cops, won't intervene, maybe governor BJ will do something about it.
Naw part of the daley mob.

Shocking?
The only thing that is shocking to me is that a newspaper actually covered the story in something resembling a fair light.

A rock solid reason to NEVER allow the state access to your children.

The police in the community in which the family lives allegedly told the girl's mom that they couldn't intervene despite her making a charge that her daughter had been raped (by statute) because the charge was stale--7 weeks after the incident.Great. Nice town.
The statute of limitations for rape is 7 weeks?
Pervert paradise!

Abortion isn't the only issue here. Equally important is the ever increasing tendency in the US for children to be considered to be property of the state.

Arrest a MOTHER for stepping in to keep her daughter who is pregnant from having an abortion. But then again...I forogt...it's OK to murder babies...
Starve to death and even refuse Terri Schiavo her right as a Roman Catholic to receive Holy Communion. That's OK.
Tell me this world isn't going to hell in a hand basket!!!!

What is the age of consent in that state?
Did the abortion clinic report that a 14 year old was PREGNANT?
Will the "grandmother" be charged with destruction of evidence?
To: stylin_geek
There HAS to be a murder charge in there somewhere.

But of course they can not set a broken arm or put in stitches until the parent signs.
This is a rape case, and why the 'other mother" had such an interest in it.
They need to get the girl to make a statement about this and file a civil suit obviously the law will do nothing
