" Steven Spielberg. Danny DeVito. Goldie Hawn."
Ok, who's the oddman out :)
Preach it, comrade!
Hmmm, why don't these celebs just buy the beach outright, they have enough money, end of story, case closed! LOL! These idiots once again prove how shallow they are, what with all that's going on in the world a glob of beach should be the least of their worries, then again, we're talking about hollyweird, they have their priorities out of order.
Oh, I won't be able to sleep tonight worrying about the poor celebs and their beaches.
My family owned a beachfront house on Ocean Isle NC, and while legally our property stretched to the ocean, public always had right ot use it... and no way we could have ever enforced a no trespassing policy.
I don't know what legal precident allowed it, but it had always been that way, and it was legal for them to use the beach as well....
Never bothered us much, but then again, we weren't rich arrogant farts either.
And, all these marginally talented celebs who yell, "Private beach!," wait 'til the next storm washes away 20 more feet of sand. Then, you'll hear these hypocrits whine about how the state and taxpayers must protect this invaluable public trust.
And, try finding a place to park! They do not allow public access to the beach from the street. The elitists democrats go crazy if you try to walk the property lines to the beach. So non-elitists have to park at either end of the golden compounds and walk the shore line to get to a broad beach. These are the ultimate limosene liberals; all talk and more talk!
Geez! Before I read this I was ticked that I didn't have more money to - say - get my hair cut or have someone wash my car. After reading this, I say thank God I'm ordinary and don't have to worry about such trivial bs. Life is good.
Beaches are always public as far as I know-- perhaps a few small exceptions.
I grew up around beaches up in the NW and I own two beachfront properties there.
My granny owns a beachfront house too and when the tide gets high, people on the beach have a choice of wading past her bulkhead, or climbing the stairs and walking right over her deck. Many choose to just go right over and she doesn't mind-- waves, smailes and says hi.
If you CHOOSE to live on the beach, you CHOOSE the possibility of seeing people in "your" front yerd.
End of story.
How surprising is this? They would stomp on our property rights, but the elitists want to retain their property rights. I would pay to rent a bus and provide a couple kegs for about 50 gang bangers to go there and party down.
There is a famous case which the city of malibu TRIED to withhold a building permit until a resident consented to a right of way through the persons land. (essentially)give us a side walk through your house for strangers to cross.
They took it to court and Malibu lost.
If the city wants a public path entrance BUY LAND. Otherwise go back to the USSR.
What needs to be done is send a bunch of those homeless people who file lawsuits when they get kicked out of a library 'cause they smell so bad. Send them to the beach with the caveat that soem rich hollywood vulgarati will harass them.
Guess I didn't realize how . . . uhhh . . . accurate my name for Babs was . . .
BABS STRIVING-IN-THE-SAND
"...and some wash themselves with the water out of the Lumsdens' faucet."
We have a beach house and this happens to us all the time. When I discover someone doing it on my property, I get their names and addresses, and tell them that when I am in their hometown that I'll waltz right into their house, uninvited, and help myself to a nice shower.
Where are all the rabid FR private property advocates when this subject comes up? Walking across someone's property to the beach?
I love it when liberals go at it with each other.
Reminds me of that windmill problem in Martha's Vinwyard. Never in a liberal's backyard.
Nothing like sunbathing on wet sand.
The liberal lawmakers of Malibu should sponsor a program for the Homeless and the rehabilitated criminals to make use of the public facilities of Malibu. I'm sure all the caring libs who own the beach properties would be happy to share.
