Card Carry,
You said...
"We're supposed to be shocked into shameful silence"

This was something that was attempted over and over during the eight months I participated before I was banned. Some kept trying to shame me for my beliefs. I kept saying "I'm proud of the fact that I voted for Bush...twice! I'm proud to be a neo con, I'm proud of our military and the war they are fighting" I had to say it again and again.

The other weird thing was how often they just ignored my threads and did not respond, or would come in to say something snarky and not address the issue I raised at all. Some were intent on fixing all spelling and gramatical errors, again not even attempting to respond in an articulate way to what I was saying. And others just personally attacked me. A few were willing to chat and debate, and these people I consider friends. I have alot of respect for those who are willing to use logic and back up that logic with factual sources, and as I said, on some issues I was educated by my liberal friends. I think it would be a mistake to think that the republican party and the president never make a mistake, and that the military is completely moral etc... That being said, the all bad news all the time mantra of the media about the war and the president is just so nauseating.

One of the funniest times though was when
it came out that Joe Wilson had lied back in july of 2004. Remember how the left had annointed him and his wife patron saints of truth?

I started a thread on it and for a whole day nobody responded to it. Then I went in to the liberal chat and learned that lemming like they were telling each other not to respond, yelling at each other not to respond, pleading with each other, so that it would just slip away onto page two as so many of my threads had done.

It is this type of behavior I don't really get. If someone presented me with some information that reliably proved that some of my world view was off, I would at least look at it, and perhaps discuss it, but that turning away from the truth, the willful looking away, as we see right now regarding Iraq and what has happened there over the past two months, it seems like the whole media is collectively shouting about Terry Shiavo (bless her heart) so that they don't have to focus on the good news in Iraq.

Anyway, Here is the thread, it is an interesting read...
