Well, now don't be too hasty...we must not upset Vincente Fox...and his ilk that think Mexican illegal criminals in America have CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!! --- they might start complaining again...be careful Washington, we might not want to do something that might actually BENEFIT AMERICA AND ITS PEOPLE (you know, the ones who pay the bills here, and put you in Washington)...

Time to get serious about our border - we can keep playing games or lets stop it once and for all.

Build a wall
Penalize employers who hire illegals
Take away all benefits to illegals

Problem solved and cheaper than 2000 new agents

They should focus on enforcing internal immigration laws (arrest and deport) and remove cities sanctuary laws. Take away all benefits for illegals and reverse the "anchor baby" decision.
Unless they do that, they can put 20,000 border patrol agents on the borders and it will still be like trying to plug a leak in a dam with your finger.

Kay Bailey Hutchison is probably going to leave her Senate seat in 2006 and run for Governor of Texas, challenging Rick Perry in the primaries. She did well here, but she is no conservative, either neo or paleo. Her voting record has been considerably less conservative than that of the recently retired Phil Gramm. However, the Texas GOP leadership, Governor Perry included, is doing all it can to reverse 40 years of Republican progress in the Lone Star State with higher taxes and crazy toll road schemes. I can't see Hutchison as being any worse than Perry. Besides, her retirement from the U.S. Senate creates an opportunity for a limited government, free market conservative to take her seat.

Does anybody know if this amendment also expands the number of detention beds and the number of interior enforcement officers that were also authorized in the 911 Security Bill but also left out of the Administration's budget?

It doesn't do much good to catch them, particularly the OTMs (other than Mexicans) if you just have to release them due to lack of detention bed.

And we will never get a handle on this problem without also stepping up interior enforcement.

You can put a million agents on the border, but until there is a real determination to enforce immigration policies, it will not make a difference. In 1986, the IR&C Act set up terms for punishing employers of illegal aliens which has gone largely unenforced after the first year or two. Illegal immigrants must be removed from the country, and legal immigration should be made easier for those who follow proper procedures. We must stop rewarding line jumpers and the companies who employ them. Additionally, the govenment should introduce legislation to go after banks that are making it easier for illegals to purchase homes here, and laws concening "anchor babies" must be modified immediately.

HERE'S A COLD BUCKET OF WAKEUP WATER - MR. BUSH - ping.

(Facts are facts and wrong is wrong and right is right. That's right, Congress is ready to fight the president over his nonchalant and utterly lacking interest in defending our border and hypocritial war on terror of saying it, but never doing anything about the hugh hell hole on our border with Mexico. George Bush's pattycake game with our border by demanding our Border Patrol keep their traps shut about the invasion they see occurring each and every day 7/24/365 is about to come to a screeching halt.)

People are overwhelmingly in agreement on this issue and totally fed up to the max and this issue will dominate the 2008 political landscape - and it should. President Bush - wake up and smell the enchiladas and quit playing mamby-pamby with our border - THIS IS *NOT* the EEU! About damn time!

===============================================

The two groups of Arab males were discovered by patrol guards from Willcox, AZ. One field agent said:

These guys didn't speak Spanish, and they were speaking to each other in Arabic. It's ridiculous that we don't take this more seriously. We're told not to say a thing to the media.

This is a field agent for the Border Patrol.

"Today, with my colleagues Senators Ensign, Domenici, Cornyn, McCain, Kyl, and Feinstein, I am calling on Congress to do more than add 210 Border Patrol agents that are in the underlying budget. We are asking for the full contingent authorized of 2,000. This is still not enough. And I hope we will be able to come back next year and get up to the full 2,000 again.

I have no problem with more Border patrol agaents, just wish there wasn't such a big labor union influence.

Below is a statement from the San Diego Border patrol website, very Clintonesque.

Local 1613 is a non-partisan organization and does not make political contributions to any political party or candidate. Local 1613 is affiliated with AFL-CIO, AFGE, NBPC, and PORAC.

There are 200,000 armed agents of the FedGov of various species. And 2000 are NOT available to be transferred to Border Patrol?
