Lemme get this straight. Gunfire rang out in the holding area and, as officers "rushed" to see what had happened, the perp had enough time to get dressed.
Lots of sloppiness to go around. A small point, but when I worked as a Correctional Officer, I was taught how to hold and shield keys so the inmates would not identify which one worked a particular door.
So far, the incompetency list includes:
1) Having only one deputy escort a large powerful prisoner in an isolated area.
2) Having a 5-ft-something 51 YO female deputy escort a 6-ft-something 33 YO male prisoner into an isolated area.
3) Two deputies who are assigned to monitor the security camera(s) are not in position.
4) Apparently ignoring the trial judge's request for additional security following discovery of "shanks" on this prisoner the previous day.
It's called "situational management". What could they have been thinking?
5) Where was the courtroom security (i.e. good guys with guns)?
6) Where was the court house security (i.e. good guys with guns)?
7) Failure to sweep the parking garage for the second hijacked vehicle.
This represents abysmal management by the Fulton County Sheriff's Department. It's difficult to believe, but they actually make Chief Moose look competent by comparison. Un-freaking-believable!
Lemme guess. They were only on the job 2 months as well.......
I caught a quick glimpse of the TV screen when they were talking about the missing depties. A man and a woman. I think they were the 2 guards.
Do I smell scape goat cooking?
Don't get me wrong...if they were derelict, they should be fired.
Just want to make sure the High Sheriff doesn't stop there.
Atlanta is so incompetent. Just a few months ago the Governor had to suspend then-sheriff Jackie Barrett for fraud and now this! But hey, at least now Cobb County isn't the laughing stock of the country. I live in Cobb and have relatives working in the Cobb court system and let me tell you, something like this would NEVER have happened in that courthouse.
it's called complacency.
very natural thing for us humans to fall into.
but it's the error of management to not allow things to fall into this state.
In LA you cannot segregate inmates... in Atlanta affirmative action is more important than safety.
Affirmative action and let the planes fall from the sky and do 911, that does not matter, so long as we have good quotas....
