It's weird the way that info came about.
I swear, the night it happened, I was watching local Atlanta news coverage, and the trauma surgeon gave a press conference. He very clearly stated she had a glancing bullet wound, emphasing the fact that the bullet didn't enter her skull. He also very clearly stated that there were two head wounds, one caused by the bullet, and one by impact from a blunt instrument, which was worse than the bullet wound.
Bullet wounds are very distinctive, even glancing ones. Atlanta trauma doctors see plenty. I don't see a trauma surgeon being that wrong or misinformed.
Just IMO...but I smell a rat.
"I've read Kerik's book and he has a background in organization, leadership positions and some intelligence background that would be ideal training a demoralized and poorly trained PD like Atlanta."
I am not disparaging his qualifications in any way, but on the ground, it is possible that a yankee Police Chief would not be a hit in atlanta (i.e. deep south)
It's a good question and maybe Atlanta's culture is different enough from what I've found in S.C.
We moved from CT 7 years ago and were astounded at how well the races get along here. Better than up north, which my northern friends refuse to believe.
But there is a gentleness that I see with how the races treat each other here. But perhaps it's not like that in the bigger cities like Atlanta. We're in a small town.
Nah. . . .we see Buffy and Angel and all these other 120 lb bim-bets kicking 250 man-butt all the time. It can happen. It's on TV.
" That would also explain why no deputies have been named."
At this point, I assume the lack of clarity on this point may be an effort by the police chief and others to find a scapegoat to save his own job.
I am not so much thinking of black/white relations (I am from Jackson, MS myself and really don't see this as a problem anymore, certainly not like in the past), but more along the lines of a bunch of southerners getting annoyed at a yankee on top. The speech customs and patterns, including acceptable questions and ways of asking them, of the two regions are so different that without meaning to, yankees often are considered very rude in the deep south.
I have no idea.
Bump.
I have no idea.
to finish the above, I have no idea if kerik is even from new york. Maybe my comments don't even apply.
You seem to find the concept impossible to believe, but keep in mind that women police officers are trained for this kind of situation. Even if I chose to tell you about any such incidents, it is doubtful you would do anything but dismiss them.
If you feel like blowing your own horn regaling us with your brawls, go for it.
Oh, the Yankee thing. I'd forgotten about that. Actually, I do occasionally read letters in our paper that reflects more resentment against Yankees than I see anger between the races.
You could very well be right about that. I was really half joking about Kerik and mentioned his name because he's the only person I know of who could take this department and whip it into shape. But I'm sure there are others who are well known within the LE community who could do an equally good job.
"Actually, I do occasionally read letters in our paper that reflects more resentment against Yankees than I see anger between the races."
I think the main problem is simply cultural., i.e. people from the northeast and particularly the new york area are MUCH more direct in comments and questions, brisk and abrupt, etc. which for a southerner to do in the south is very rude. I never notice it in NY, as it just seems natural, but bring it to the south it can be very offending at a base reaction level.
Let's get the priorities straight. We need to spend money on automatic red light cameras so that we can hammer the traffic violators. An added bonus would be to use the cameras instead of a video that needs to be watched by humans. That way you could automatically generate a profitable ticket with the proof that Mr Nichols was trespassing on the empty cell.
Yeah, Peach told me that too. Looks like he knew where they were vulnerable.
"If those people had been doing their jobs (they were AWOL as far as I can tell), no one would have died."
It's not the same country we had in WWII. The make up of its citizenry has changed, continues to change at alarming rates and with alarming consequences. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.
"Some day I may be accused of something wrongly and would take much offense to your mindset..."
Not me...accused is sufficient in my book.
And he scores!
No, It's said at the time he attacked her he was not in possession of her gun. When guards take them to change they have to lock their guns in a box. Somehow he managed to see what box her gun was in and only after he knocked her out did he acquire her gun.
"No. He said he hit her."
So, she di not die?
Or, is it that the thug hit her and killed her?
If the latter, then he didn't just "hit" her, the mutant killed her.
Arm yourselves and your family, folks. Time is of the essence, especially with our current mass invasion of aliens. The future for our children doesn't look very promising.
