Yawn. Okay, pretty soon we're going to get a better, more dramatic story out of this guy. You know, sort of like what Carlos Castenada's editors advised him to do with his stories. Punch it up.

I can hear it now: "Well, we were at this checkpoint and the guys were all laughing and cutting up. I think a couple of them, if not all of them had been drinking or doing one-hitters of hash. Anyway, here comes this minivan with a bunch of kids in it singing what sounded like 'Kum by Ya" in Arabic. Well, a couple of the guys started yelling "Towel heads! Kill 'em, kill 'em all, and let our Christian God sort them out." Really, it was just like Oliver Stone's Platoon where they wiped out that village and killed that retarded, I mean mentally challenged kid. I'm sorry, I get choked up and it's hard to talk. How much did you say that check was for? Because I mean, Columbia is paying me $20,000 to speak and I mean, we're in a fair market, here, right?

Seems to me to be a peacetime soldier, who couldn't handle the chaos of war 1st hand.

"Shoot to kill" in the red zone caused him to freak out and he now suffers from a psycotic disorder as a result of the shock.

Of course the left will be prefectly willing to feed his disease and exploit his "plight" to thier advantage (and possibly his)

Why even post this idiocy?

Because it is the top story of the Syracuse newspapers, and it is being picked up by the Philadelphia newspapers according to my phone calls.

Are you the arbiter of what we protest as Liberal Bias now?

Congrats if you are...what a great job you are doing.

I'm starting to suspect that since most Americans now trust their own eyes as to the success of the war, people like this man will merely be preaching to the Bush haters. Folks who are open to this kind of thing will look at the results and, whether he's being truthful or not, figure that in the larger scheme of things this situation is working out, overall.

I see a couple dozen people on folding chairs watching this guy, and he realizes they look exactly like the last bunch he talked to...

Quote from last Friday's Post Standard:

"He tells of the time his unit was setting up a road checkpoint near Baghdad. The orders were to stop traffic from coming into the area the Marines were occupying.

Intelligence reports warned the Marines that enemy forces were donning civilian clothes and taking ambulances and police cars to use in suicide attacks, Massey recalled.

When a red, four-door Kia sedan wouldn't stop upon reaching the checkpoint, the Marines opened fire, hitting three of the car's occupants.

'That's the harshest one, Massey added. That's the one that sticks with me the most.' "

Here's a link to the whole Ramirez story:

I guess Massey doesn't feel that our soldiers manning checkpoints aren't supposed to safeguard against their getting blown up.

He was a Marine for 12 years, never having experienced combat until he arrived in Iraq two years ago. Makes you wonder how long he was there until he was classified with PTSD. It's one thing to not be able to handle the riggers of combat, but to come home and bad mouth your fellow Marines, well, that's nothing more than pulling a Kerry.

It would be nice if some of the Marines from his unit would speak out about this guy. He sounds like your usually shill that presents himself as a professional victim and the US as the evil monster. He is probably suffering from more than PTSD.

Funny, he doesn't look too traumatized in those photos does he?

In his interview for inmotionmagazine.com, Massey claims his group was ordered to fire into a group of demonstrators and killed several kids. Wouldn't you think that if you killed a bunch of kids that that would be your worst experience? Yet in the Post-Standard article, he says that firing at the car that wouldn't stop for the checkpoint was the worst thing he'd experienced. Is this guy for real?

Maybe this guys reemergence is coordinated to get the maximum media impact from the recent Italian commie check point incident.

"You see it was ordered!"

This guy was a Marine for 12 years, spent 3 months in Iraq and was honorably discharged? He was diagnosed with PTSD after 3 months in Iraq?
I know something about PTSD. The military does a lot better job in dealing with PTSD today than they did 30 years ago. I smell a rat.

Has anyone bother to find out if "SSgt" Massey was actually in the Marine Corps (i.e., checked with HQMC PAO or Personnel section) to see if he is for real?

Or are we to take the whole of his story on faith alone?

Considering who he is running with, the guy could be a fake.

I agree with you 100%.

There are people who want the US Military to be the Nazis of the 21st century, mindless psychopaths inured to violence and willingly and cheerfully doling it out on "orders". That is their view, and this guy is their tool to validate it.

I wasn't there, but without proof or witnesses, I don't buy a word of it. This guy is another John Kerry.

If these things were true, this guy would be at fault. He was supposed to be a leader. If this stuff happened, it is a dramatic breakdown in discipline, and it would have been HIS MAIN JOB TO PROVIDE THAT DISCIPLINE.

The problem with posting this stuff (rather than more positive stories) is that people will read it, and some will conclude "where there is smoke there is fire". They will think that some of our Marines are doing what this bozo said they are doing.

The best way to minimize the effect of liberal bias is avoid stories infected with liberal bias.

If he was in charge of the unit, he should have been court martialed if civilians were murdered. Interesting if the Sarge kept his mouth shut until he got his honorable.Did he report the incident up the chain of command, to a chaplain or the IG when, or after it supposedly happened?

The only alternative is to sit in your room while we put on Mr. Happy Pajamas and pretend all is wonderful.

The sad reality is that there are thousands of Americans who so despise their own nation (for whatever reason) that they will report with glee any malcontent traitor. Moreover, they will not even admit they are out of the mainstream with their nation, the Almighty, or themselves.

How do you reason with people in such a state? In fact, you don't. If someone rejects a nation blessed as ours and their own maker, they are beyond rationality.
