KGB? OH!!!!! Klinton, Gore and Begala
Wasn't it Lenin that coined the term 'useful idiot'?
The documents may have been forged but the facts are still true.
If only he were a one of a kind journalist. Unfortunately, he's typical.
SSSSSoooooo glad to see Blather taken down by the people.
This is just one of many anecdotes pointing to this guy's pinko leanings. Another little gem was a "documentary" called "The Wall Within" wherein Rather tries to paint Viet Nam Vets as wanton murders. Although this jerk has yet to receive his full comeuppance,I'm stoked about his disgraceful departure.
Years ago I respected folks like Eric Severeid (liberal or not) because they were wordsmiths and cut their teeth actually covering WWII. Rather is an exercise in silliness. His supposed claim to fame was being rude to Nixon with one quip at a press conference, and not a meanigful quip, either.
When I think of the idiocy of the networks, it always brings up images of the Today show. Barbara Walters wasn't much, but Jane Pauley was an empty headed fool (few people remember that when they trotted Pauley out they had her in a ludicrous Walters hairdo), and the mere thought of Katie Couric as a"star" is nauseating, as she is.
People watch these shows because they are on.
Forged documents relative to the prez' service records?
That's my question. I always thought that forgery was a crime.
How often have we heard the word forgery being used by the MSM? If Rather had been a conservative, we can be sure we would have heard it 20 times a day, and there would be an ongoing senate investigation into who produced these forged documents and who knew about the forgery.
There would also have been loud cries from the start blaming the forgery on the Bush campaign and the RNC.
And shame on those who do watch for such an empty reason. I hope you are not including your own behavior in your estimation of other's habits, Williams.
The creatures who trot the frauds and broads across your screen for you, or people, to receive are counting on just such apathy from viewers.
There is simply nothing on that is worth the time it takes to watch tv. The sooner you, and people, turn tv off completely the sooner it dies.
Help kill tvism. Turn it off for good. You'll be amazed at how much better life is without an unpleasant and disagreeable guest in your home.

I admit to the sin of watching television, primarily fox news, but even that use is declining. Would you include watching movies as a no no on the "devil's box"?
Anybody who reads the news during the day doesn't really need tv news, unless something like 9-11 is happening live. Otherwise, when I listen to the tv news I feel I heard it all about 3 days ago. A network news broadcast is an exercise in total pointlessness. 30 minutes, minus commercial time, of stale reports.
An accusation the last president committed a violent rape, with the accuser being the victim herself with some corroborating witnesses - somehow was not newsworthy. Sadly, even conservative news outlets act as though it's embarrassing to report on the rape or Clinton's drug use, etc, just because the behavior is so grossly bad.
Dan Rather isn't the only one walking away in shame tonight. CBS is as guilty as he. CBS has done nothing over the years to stop the ridiculous slide into left-wing lunacy that will forever frame Rather and CBS. Everyone knew (knows) rather is not an intellectual, or even particularly talented. He was and is a tool. The only way tonight's farewell could make me excited is for Rather to walk away a penniless drunk.
He may be shamede, but he is a rich SOB.
Well, ok, you have my permission to watch videos & dvd's- but keep 'em wholesome! /sarcasm!

We went through the same process as that you mention- reducing our viewing to just Fox news/ Weather channel. Even that limited diet became unpalatable to us. We have a four year-old. About two years ago we decided that the tv could not be on in her presence without one of us hovering nearby on "remote alert" so as to intercept the nastiness before our daughter absorbed it.
Since turning it off, except for some videos & DVD's, we are better informed and happier without the frenetic zooming flicker of a disturbance called tv around our home.
Good chatting with you. Now, back to your reading!

Not hard to understand at all once you realize that all these 'journalists' have a political agenda that they put several magnitudes higher than their professional ethics. Clinton's alleged rape of Juanita Broderick wasn't newsworthy because Bill had a (D) next to his name. It's all very elementary really.
Dan Rather was more despicably stupid than I thought.
