It's about time the US did something to let the UN know how we feel about them.

Sure, the UN has many flaws and deserves reform. But what message does it convey to the UN and the world to send to the UN a fellow who has essentially called for total defunding of the institution? Uh...the right one?

"Bolton has expressed much more vitriol for the UN than those two (representative) remarks"
If criticism like this is unacceptable, why do Corn and his Nation buddied lob much, MUCH worse at Bush?

Good question: we should have sent in a demolitions expert along with an eviction notice.

Giving the UN the finger is too tame. Giving them Bolton is more appropriate.

I still say we should have seized the UN complex on 9-12-01 and given the office space to companies that had been in the WTC.

When England, France and Germany recently tried to develop a carrot-and-stick approach in negotiating an end to Iran (news - web sites)'s suspected nuclear weapons program, Bolton huffed, "I don't do carrots." I didn't know much about him before, but I already like him.
May he follow in the footsteps of UN Ambassadors like Jeanne Kirkpatrick instead of ones like Adlai Stevenson.

"Bolton is the rightwing's leading declaimer of the United Nations"
No he isn't.
"And when the Bush administration failed to persuade the UN to back its war in Iraq, Bolton observed that was "further evidence to many why nothing should be paid to the UN system."
Bolton correctly says "system." The "UN" is not an individual, independent agency but a tool limited by it's members various interests. France, Russia and China blocked some fo Bush's aims in order to secure their oil rights. The very same is happening for Darfur the same three also have oil drilling rights in Sudan.

It's about time the US did something to let the UN know how we feel about them.I agree. It tells them that we now know they exist to oppose the US, and that we will no longer tolerate it.
This is a tremendously good move on W's part, and in no small way will make us safer going forward. The world political landscape is a nasty place for the top dog, and the dog has been barking, but it's time to bite.
To: IrishGOP
the only way you get the UN to change is to put someone in there who is against what was and is the staus quo there,, liberals ARE stupid,,,,,,,,,
