Well, if we're going to have that, we need this one, too:

Clearly beyond "journalism" and into "buddy-buddy".

But Thornberg, like the good RINO he is, gave Dan the one CYA sentence he has been repeating in every interview, that their pathetic report "found no bias" in his hit job on the President. Even the old hands at CBS have been saying that is a crock.

This is like sucking the marrow out of the bones of a fresh kill.

Good bye, Danny.

NEXT!

Here is a man who's had one of the most important careers in the history of television news."

Sure. And Al Jolson had one of the most important careers in the history of 78 RPM phonograph records.

I was hoping someone would post that picture of Fidel and "Kenneth."

People feel very sad that Dan is leaving

Well according to an unofficial poll I just took at the trucking company where I work that not exactly the case. Nine of the people didn't even know Ratherclown was leaving, 4 illegal alien truck drivers never heard of him, 2 thought he was a game show host, 3 drivers having coffee proposed beating the snot out of him as a going away present, 1 driver was too hung over to answer and only 2 people at the terminal liked him but couldn't say what network he worked for and even one of them, I am convinced, has him confused with Larry King. Quite a legacy.

Regarding the Letterman show: Rather has to keep stating that the documents weren't found to be forged. It's all he can cling to. I'm sure that the folks who wrote that report were pressured to write that so that he could save face. Instead, saying that the documents "couldn't be authenticated" or something to that affect leaves Dan with something to keep saying until he leaves the air.

Good one!

Like Al Jolson, Rather's shtick is over.

Hopefully there will be no Joe Franklin's to keep reminding of us "Kenneth". ;)

Thornberg was probably currying favor to those who were buttering his bread. He certainly came away "tainted" though.

"I think it's tragic that a guy who worked as hard as he did would have his career capped like this, because the Bush report is going to be what he's remembered for," Fenton said. "He'll carry this with him to his obituary. ... Tragic - that's the only word for it."

It's always tragic to the criminal when he or she gets caught.

Hey Dan, a life built on lies is really no life at all...

Got that right. Rather was FIRED from his first job running a radio station for
leaving the facility while on-the-air and then getting caught.

cBS should have fired him for the Fax-fraud.

Instead cBS and Rather will BOTH be remembered for fraud
and their treason against America just before an election.

A very fitting comment. Bernard Goldberg wrote a book in 2001 on this subject. It is appropriately entitled, "Bias" and it is a chilling look at the predetermined slant given all news stories from MSM, particularly CBS. Goldberg's book was more of a prophecy than he could have realized.

CBS should have cleaned house when they were exposed in 2001.

Uh Mr. Fenton, this is a flock of well-deserved chickens coming home to roost and everybody knows it, but you. Even Andy Rooney acknowledges the liberal bias was there in spades over a long period of time. Rooney cites how Danny boy liked to refer to the President as simply "Bush", not President or Mr. Bush.

The chickens have landed!

Pardon my profanity, but this liberal son of a bitch brought it on himself. If he'd played straight with the American people all along, he wouldn't be remembered this way. The Bush report is just the capstone of a career of distortion and bias. No sympathy whatsoever from me.

One more time:
Our KFYI guys have created a masterpiece. (looking for the audio file now, but here are the lyrics.:

The Day Dan Rather Lied A long, long time ago
I can still remember how the news used to make me mad
And I knew that if I could choose
I'd prefer fair and balanced news
And Maybe we'd get straight scoop for awhile
But September made me grin
I thought, at last, we could win
Bias in the broadcast
I knew that it could not last
I can't remember if I sighed
When I read about his desperate try
But something touched me deep inside
The day Dan Rather lied

So, Bye bye, Dan Rather b' bye
Told us Dubya didn't serve
But that was a lie
When caught by the bloggers
You chose to deny So, this'll be the day your job dies
This'll be the day your job dies
When I turned on the tv news
I did not want to hear some liberals' views
But that's all the networks did
And did you think it was pretty fun
When Dan was embarrassed by Bush '41
The dead air time, remember that one
And I know that you're fed up with him
When he dressed up like Gunga Din
Where were we to go
Before talk radio?
I was physically ill, I mean really sick
When he mouthed off to our Tricky Dick
But I knew we were all in luck
The Day Dan Rather lied
I started singin' bye bye, Dan Rather b' bye
Told us Dubya didn't serve
But that was a lie
When caught by the bloggers
You chose to deny
So, this'll be the day your job dies
This'll be the day your job dies

Brought it all upon himself. He was arrogant. Pompous. Self Righteous and thought he was the do all be all of his network. Well, he wasn't. In his HASTE to put a story out there which he thought would bring down President Bush just proved how much Rather thought of himself. The network was at fault too cause they allowed him to do what he wanted. Hey, he's a newsanchor for heaven's sakes. Not some GOD! They could have fired him years ago and replaced him with someone else. Oh for awhile the followeing he had would be up in arms but guess what? They would have shifted their "adoration" to the next one in line. People are fickle. Outta sight ... outta mind. NOBODY but NOBODY is indespensible! Not even YOU Dan Rather.
