It was a series of 4 major quakes over about 2 months. Whats truly awesome about it is that the accounts say the ground was in continuous motion for the last 2-3 weeks between the two peak quakes, at times the land could be seen to be rolling in waves. Sounds biblical. Do a web search. Great reading.

A little too deep to cause a tsunami. Although 190km is not considered a "deep" quake (they can go as far as 800km), it would have to be huge at this depth to cause any significant damage.
I don't consider myself an "expert", but I learned a little after 20+ years as a seismologist.

Well, in a few weeks time, I will be in Phuket, site of the
Tsunami, hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does, its God's will I guess.
