"there's another reason – a better reason, really – for the widespread refusal of my fellow Jews to put their check mark or touch that voting screen next to an R-candidate's name: Justice."

Like now he's going to tell us that Democrats are in favor of justice. Get real.

From the cases pointed out above, George W. Bush's administration doesn't seem interested in justice, does it?

This kind of ATF abuse has been going on for decades. The agency needs to put out of our misery once and for all.

Who is going to do that? Not a (D), everyone agrees, and not an (R) according to the evidence presented in the article. Who then?

From the cases pointed about above, it looks like career bureaucrats who are protected by civil service laws don't seem interested in justice, does it?

Can't really tell whether all of these people were innocent or not from the scant, one-sided description of the cases.

If the complaint is that the law is unjust, then blaming Bush for Clinton's laws is kinda pointless. If the complaint is that Bush should have stopped the prosecutions because these guys were innocent, then I would only point out that it's not generally proper for the President to involve himself directly in criminal prosecutions.

If the complaint is the mindset of the bureaucracy, then what's new? Certainly no reason for a Jew to vote Democratic, which seems to be the contrived premise of the article.

The biggest problem is that nobody "cleans house" anymore and half of these mid level bureaucrats which cause the most problems just go unnoticed.

The BATF needs to be disbanded.

I being a Jew think that Jews vote Dems because they (not I) see Demselves as perpetual victims and the Dems claim to be the breast for those. Jews are also socialists (kibbutzes, arranged marriages, and other things). Many liberal jews here are so whishy washy with themselves and their religion and thir kids that many of their children become new agers/fake hippies and gays so they vote Dems to protect their childrens ways.

In WA state the liberal leftist demoncRAT politicians from Seattle are trying to get through the State Legislature a couple of terrible gun control bills. One involved eliminating lead shot and the other is taxing lead at $.24 per ounce. Shudder!!!!!!

Yeah, the way President Bush campaigned for the extension of the Assault Weapons Ban and spent all that political capital to try to assure it's passage really burns me up...

Oh, wait a minute... That never happened!

I don't know. Maybe after SocSec is "fixed", we can put the heat on our elected representatives over this issue.

>>George W. Bush, a Republican, is expanding social-service spending at a rate Clinton never dreamed of.<<

"The real reason is that most jews are social liberals."

I continually have been flamed for saying the same thing about this President, he is a social liberal. My support for a more conservative person doesn't fit too well with FReepers.

Criticizing the President or his (R) & (D) Cabinet doesn't go over well on FR. Aaron Zelman won't become a favorite author here either.

I've felt for many years and still feel that the description that G. Gordon gave to the BATF (Jack booted thugs) was accurate.

It was accurate then, it's accurate now and that organization needs to be eliminated from the face of the earth.

Aaron Zelman used to be a hero here, before the widescale distribution of the artificially sweetened fruit flavored drink.

Mr. Zelman makes a tremendous case. There are way too many Republicans who are nothing but flim-flam artists. A lot of this can be traced back to the fact that elected officials often develop the attitude of an aristocracy with respect to the simple peasants who pay their exhorbitant salaries through taxation. Needless to say, the thought of an armed citizenry is utterly offensive to such people.

The Bush family is a notorious case in point. One of the FBI agents actually convicted for the cover-up, including document shredding, over Ruby Ridge (during the reign of George "Read My Lips" I) was pardoned and declared "rehabilitated" by brother Jeb in Florida after a short stay in a comfortable minimum security Federal jail. If some average peasant were jailed for obstruction of justice, what do you think the chances of a pardon would be? Others Feds involved in the lawlessness at Ruby Ridge and Waco got away scot-free, of course. Things will only get worse with the gun-grabbing affirmative-action hack Alberto Gonzales as our attorney general. With "conservatives" like these, who needs liberals?
