Pal Pot created such a thing in Cambodia for a couple of years. His generals who wanted some "rewards" switched over to the Vietnamese and stopped the killing. If they hadn't, one rather suspects that instead of two million classless corpses, there would be eight million. Nepal and India are experiencing the joy of liberation now. Will Chavez be the first to try it in the Americas or will these Boston anarchists attract more of their natural allies on the left?

I didn't know that about the defection of Pol Pot's generals. As for Chavez, he's a goner, in my view. I'm not counting the days, but I suspect they're numbered in the hundreds rather than the thousands.

It's a bit mysterious to me why some people never seem to learn the lessons that history teaches about attempts to create classless societies. These attempts are always made by smart people who claim to want what's best for everybody, but they always end up with the same group (or a proper subset thereof, the rest having been liquidated because they were insufficiently committed to the cause) running things as they see fit, without regard for the wishes or the needs of the people they claimed to be setting out to help.

This is definitely a scary people alert! I think the old saying that you can go so far left that you start to come back to the right applies here. I am rushed to get ready for work, so I hope someone else can express this better. There are many conservative people that believe in less government but that is not to be confused with a belief in no government. Even the most extreme libertarian believes in the rule of law. There is a difference as bright as day from dark night between the belief in individual liberty by a moral person and the criminal violence of these leftist anarchists.
