How thoughtful. Me-ocrats don't want to set the rules for everybody, just those in their own country!

I'm wasting a response on yer gonna put yer eye out because he and his ilk are just as dangerous as Hillary Clinton. Like her, his response is "We're gonna take away some of your rights for the common good." They're part of the same tree. They just hang from different branches, and if they had their way they'd hang Freedom from one of those branches, too.

Free Republic has been infiltrated by liberals, however, they will never admit it.

Like it or not, there are several other people in America...
Their rights to things are as valid as yours.
There are going to be regulations wherever there are people...
Some people understand, some determine not to understand...

A sheeple are the ones who assume there are unwritten rules at play here, and that we are merely governmental cattle suffering at the capricious whims of brutes. As an aside, I wonder how many of these anarcho-sheeple types are ex-cons or have other personal problems with lawful authority or responsibilities.

Airlines are not government entities. If they want you to stand on your head and do push-upin order to board, that's their right.

How does showing an ID card make anyone safer? If the person goes thru a scanner and has his bags x-rayed, what difference does his name make?

BTW, the security IS provided by the government even though the airlines are private entities.

I also had recent opportunity to take the train from Dallas to Houston - no ID required or requested.

Assuming you were on Amtrak, you are mistaken:

Passenger Security and Identification

Amtrak has undertaken heightened security measures for the benefit of our customers.

Valid Photo Identification Required

Photo ID Required: Amtrak customers 18 years of age and older must produce valid photo identification when purchasing tickets (whether in stations or on board trains), and when checking baggage. Unaccompanied children 15 and older must also produce valid photo ID when purchasing tickets.

Random Ticket/ID Checks: Following federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines, we regularly conduct random ticket verification checks on board trains to ensure that passengers are properly ticketed. Please be prepared to show a member of the onboard crew valid photo identification.

What is a Valid ID? To be valid, your identification must be current and in-force. We accept the following forms of identification:
-State or provincial driver's license
-Passport
-Official government-issued identification (federal, state or county government or legitimate foreign government) Canadian provincial health card ID card with photo
-Military photo ID
-Student identification (university, college or high school photo ID)
-Job Corps photo ID

If you can present none of the above IDs, we will generally accept two other valid and current forms of identification, at least one of which is issued by a legitimate government authority.

Perhaps the ticket-takers in Dallas were just a little lax the day you rode Amtrak?

I'm sure the security people at Amtrak will appreciate your reporting this egregious violation so the proper disciplinary action can be taken.

Would you ask to see the tax laws before sending in a check to the IRS?

Yes.

Would you demand to see the law which requires a driver's license in order to drive a motor vehicle before handing over yours to the deputy who just pulled you over?

Of course I would, if I had not all ready been aware that it was the law.

One time I was a passenger in a car involved in a fender bender, the cops wanted my drivers license and I asked why they wanted it. He said it was easier to make his report this way, (instead of having to ask everyone their name).

Some of them aren't bright enough to realize it.

Would you ask for the law deputizing the officer who eventually comes to investigate your personal irresponsibility in the matter?

Is this a confession?

Once again, Jihad, you have it all wrong.

Sheeple (like you, for instance) are those who go along with every infringement on rights without question.

Those who have any discernment at all realize that we are suffering at the hands of brutes, AKA Fed.gov.

What happened to Free Republic? It used to be more about freedom.

That went away with the Clintons, or didn't you know?

Regards,

Not by bus anymore. Gotta show ID to get on a non-local bus.
