So you say, but the post to which b_sharp was replying read like a completely nutty piece of new-age mysticism. Perhaps that wasn't your intention but it wasn't just b_s who noticed it.
I've not come across this considered-to-be-mysterious "will to live" thing before, and now it has appeared at least twice in one thread. Resources are limited, organisms which struggle for existence will tend to displace those that don't struggle. All modern living things are descended from a line of millions of successful reproducers in a world where there will never be enough resources for most organisms to manage that. Call it the evolutionary tautology if you will (survival of the fittest, where the fittest are those who survive). Why is that presented as some kind of metaphysical mystery?
The "will to live" thing is just the "you haven't figured out abiogenesis yet" argument coming in by the back door.
Creationism makes Christians look stupid.
Nothing will stop creationists from retaining stupid ideas, no matter what! No YEC has ever budged an inch from knowing facts.
"But ID isn't looking to pick a fight over dates, but rather process."
Yeah, right. ID is nonsense that is a pipsqueak trying to pick a fight with Superman as science. ID makes Christians look stupid.
"Lamark wasn't all wrong, and animals do, to some degree, 'design' themselves and direct their own development.
So I'd agree with the author that 'intelligent design' has played a role in evolution. I'm open to that possiblity that that 'intelligent design' might occur at the cellural level."
Aluminum hats for sale!
Do you have any actual science for us or are you just going to continue to argue against science with nonsense?
Its just another article that makes Christians look stupid.
I wonder why they think God needs anyone lying for Him?
It makes Christians look pretty stupid.
"And there's nothing in Darwinism that can account for the emergence of life in the first place. "
Right, so why do you argue against science as if evolution had anything in it about origin of life?
Are you just trying to make Christians look stupid?
"FWIW."
Explain quantum mechanics to us and we might think you have a worthwhile opinion.
Did you know that one opinion might not be worth as much as one informed opinion?
Ah yes! Just more grist for the mill for making Christians look stupid.
And your rant has what to do with science?
Have you figured out why the human eye is designed backwards yet?
"What I want to know is why Christians think it is allright to bear false witness when they are acting as "soldiers of God"?"
They are trying to protect God from the smart people who know evolution is a fact. They are trying to shelter themselves from the fact that CREATION IS NOT IN THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION!
They even admit the above and then speculate it is NOT in the theory because of political reasons!!!!!! Instead of arguing against science they should be writing a manual called, "How to make Christians LOOK STUPID!"
You have just murdered all the animals on the Ark. Good going.
I can't read your mind. Do you accept Meyers' Old Earth Theory or do you regect Meyers' Old Earth Theory?
Come on, it is easy... bvw eagerly endorses any part of any hypothesis/theory that looks like an attack on evolution, while rejecting any part of any hypothesis/theory that looks as if it doesn't mesh with the most simple minded literal reading of the Bible. So much easier than all that "thinking" malarkey and it saves one from the tiresome necessity of reading the arguments in the hypothesis and deciding if they stand up or not. Indeed it saves one from the tiresome necessity of knowing anything whatsoever about science and the data when making sage pronouncements decrying Chuck Darwin's ideas.
Yep, my bad not to make that part of my point clear.
Evolution is an hypothesis, or theory, about natural history, but there is no way to properly classify it as "science" any more than an explanation the causes of the Civil War can be described as "science."
---though, on this site, I'm sure that there are many who believe they have the "War of Northern Aggression" down to a pretty exact "science!"
