Yeah, but "yankee" to a sutherner is always preceeded by "damn" and there is nothing between the two. "Damnyankee" is one word.
Appears ONCE in Google cache, 19 Apr 2005 by YOU. I've never seen this, but I certainly will never forget it. Thank you.

What a wonderful way to put it. Born and bred in Kentucky, where we boast the 'Real South' begins, all of the things noted -we hold true and dear. Old connotations of southerners regarding slavery and segregation still, unfortunately, ring true in some areas(very few), but the majority have come into the light, and hold true to the foundation of the Bible and the Truth it represents.
This includes the INCORPORATION of Church and State, not the SEPARATION, the ability to have morals and values and openly share them with all who pass through, and the desire to teach our children the importance of the 'Southern' way of life.
God, Family and Country. THAT is what the South is truly about. The Confederate flag is flown by some out of ignorance - that small few who still hold to bigotry and hate. The true meaning of that flag is what our heritage stands for, being proud of who we are, where we were raised, who we have become.
Yes, we are the heart of the Bible Belt - we go to Church on Sunday's and Wednesday nights. We still have family dinners, long for summer nights on the porch swing, and are lulled asleep listening to the music of crickets and katy-dids.
You will never meet a stranger, people still say yes ma'am and yes sir, doors are still held open for ladies, and we smile at children as they run playing down the road.
What the Liberals do not understand, is that we are a new breed of Southerners. Once synonymous with the word 'Democrat' - due to the hardworking, blue collar Americans in this area - we have come to realize the Democratic party no longer cares about values and morals. It is impossible to be a Christian in the South and vote for gay rights, abortion and taking prayer and God out of everything public. That is not even close to what we are about.
Around Christmas, you will see the Nativity at local Banks and even the Courthouses. At Easter, you will find crosses stuck in the ground on the hillsides. You will see signs at businesses that say 'God Bless America', and 'In God We Trust'. And on election day - we will vote what our Lord leads us too, not what the Democrats, MSM and other 'peace' groups have tried to make us believe.
We are the South - the imbodiment of what our families have raised us to believe - and the more liberal the Democrats become, the more Southern votes they will lose. It is that simple. And don't even think about trying to put a Democratic woman in the Whitehouse - that will fly like a chicken in a rain storm.
They just do not understand.
Let go of God? Not a chance. We are only growing stronger. Check the Church member rolls. Check the demographics on how many new churches are being built, how many new members are joining each month. Those are the statistics and polls they should watch.
Now, if we can just get the Truth out into the MSM, we will be in business....JK
Actually I'm sitting about a mile from Cedar Grove Cemetery right now, and finally took time to go by and find the monument. Wish I had the wherewithall (smarts) to take a picture of it and post it here.
SERIOUS QUESTION, not being facetious...then is country music in some way, at least, influenced by the Scots?

I was looking for the lyrics of this song when I saw your post.
I have them at work and couldn't put my finger on them at home.
You done good.
BTTT !
My Confederate ancestors went west after the war and became ranchers in Wyoming and Nebraska.
Yes! Country music came from the lively fiddle tunes produced by the Scots-Irish in the Appalachians during the 18th Century.
Take a picture!!! We'll help you post it!

"Honor is personal, familial and real."
Honor is almost a lost term in modern liberal political- think. That view is an outgrowth of morality being a relative value.
Great article. Great guy. But the number of Yankees who think like him might probably surprise him. The liberal media police and northern academia doesn't speak for all Yankees.
