If I was a School District Administrator, I'd make sure that all 6th graders had a classes on, among other things, how to use a pocket knife, gun safety, general household safety, how to tie knots, change a flat tire, fix a toliet, clean a floor, make a bed and manners.

Yes, every kid would be required to carry a pen, pencil, paper and a pocket knife/tool.

This is what happens when God is removed from schools.

Isn't there something in the Bible that says that the sins of the father shall not be visited upon the sons?

Another Liberal doublespeak is that in criminal cases, they try to make it all about "intent" yet in these cases they cry that only the overt act, knowing or not, is all that matters.

Tattle-tales used to "lose" their pants on the way home from school.

"Liar, liar, pants on fire, hanging from a telephone wire!"

The pants might not have been set ablaze, but they were still hard to retrieve.

I remember laughing as one guy's pants AND shorts were run up the flagpole after school.

This will continue to happen until the father goes to the school and beats the hell out of the Smyth and Cook types.

There are some who will criticize this and say you will be sent to jail. I say it's a small price to pay for defending my children.

Who knows, it may give the Smyth and Cook types pause the next time.

"The school district has a zero-tolerance policy on bringing weapons to school property or to a school event, Smyth said. If someone does, there is an automatic 10-day suspension, he said."

Automatic? B.S. The only thing automatic is the school administrator's refusal to use common sense to determine the merits of a situation based on circumstance and evidence.

That's what Scouting is for! :-)

I learned all that stuff in Scouts, and now it's my son's turn

The problem is that all boys need to know these things, not just Boy Scouts. I'm an Eagle Scout and know the value of the things I learned while a Boy Scout. Every kid needs to be educated in practical things that are beneficial. Schools need to be places of learning - practical tools as well as mental tools. They both are important.

"This is what happens when God is removed from the schools"
How can God be removed from ANYWHERE when He is EVERWHERE?
I know what you are trying to say though.Funny,I went to school in the Fifties and I recall that the church going kids were really no more virtuous or benevolent than the non church goers.Hell raisers back then were Catholic,Jewish,Methodist as well as self professed"agnostics".
And knives? They were never forbidden in my school with the exception of those of the switchblade variety.
Difference is these kids nowadays often have no compunction about cutting EACH OTHER.We had more sense.

"When I was a boy every 9 or 10 year old boy in school had a pocket knife and no one ever thought of it as a weapon or as a danger to anyone."

Ditto. I carved a fish out of a bar of soap in the 3rd grade during art class. These evil fools would have called in a swat team.
