They seem to be common in Pittsburgh, PA too. Just had a few yestrday. A few years back, one blew up in front of a car doing about 50mph. The cover went through the winshield and decapitated the driver. Her 2 little kids in the back seat were unharmed.

I guess the cost of a high quality wire insullation,impervious to this brew that gets down there,would be prohibitive,...so BANG-O,...'tis the season to be nervous,hearing explosions in NYC is,well you can imagine,a nice 2000 ton heap of burning s**t is relaxing
